sounds a lot like my reaction to the eufa european championships* prior to 1996. and, if i'm honest, ever since 1996. but less so during 1996. * and a shipload of one-day / one-evening cricket tournaments.
I thought when they scored it was going to be one of those games whereby we dominate, didn't take the chances that came along, and suffer a 0-1 defeat. Anyhow, great credit to the team and Garth Southgate, they didn't panic and got their just rewards in the end. To be in the semi-finals is a great achievement, let's savour the moment, as in the past it hasn't happened that often.
Got to admit that I haven't taken much interest. But I understand England have qualified for Euro 2020 and are now in the semi-finals...What's that all about..? What does it mean?. Do the top four in A group play each other for top seed or summat?
The Nations League has been an excellent idea, it's turned meaningless friendlies into competitive games and if we were to actually win the whole thing, we get a splendid silver statue and £6.7m.
Not qualified for 2020. They are guaranteed a place in the final play offs for 2020 which they won't need as they will qualify easily for
Still as clear as mud...I watched 'Only Connect' tonight and some of the questions on there were easier to work out....
It's a separate competition to the qualifying for Euro 2020!! England,France Switzerland and Portugal will now get drawn in 5 team groups for the 2020 qualifying tournament. The other 6 groups contain 6 teams .. The top 2 from each group qualify . The other 4 teams will come from a mini tournament played in March 2020. The nation's league finals are next June with the 4 teams I mentioned. If any of these teams fail to qualify they will automatically be in the March play offs..
As I understand it, us, Portugal, Switzerland and The Netherlands now have to reform the League of Nations and it's our job to stop any future Global conflicts. Reckon that's a pretty big ask of two perpetual We're not looking and we are Neutrals, a don't bother asking us, we surrender and the two world wars and one world cup brigade. We can only try, I suppose.
It has it is a good idea !! The friendlies and qualifying are as dull as they come.. This nations league as given a reason for people to watch!!
Good to see the sun never sets over the New Wembley. Did we ever conquer the summit of the Matterhorn ? (Other than importing a **** load of tariff-free Toblerone and White Italian plonk of course). Imperialist pretensions being resurrected ?
Oh I see...Its a separate comp...Total waste of time then!... PS....I thought Germany had won 2 nil. 2-2 draw, the Cloggies scored 2 in the last five mins.
I don’t see how it’s a total waste of time. Instead of a pointless friendly where both sides make 11 changes at half time we have competitive games against strong sides. Better for the fans, better for the teams.
Yeah Right now I don't really mind this Nations League thingey.... please log in to view this image I do like a cheeky away trip with the national team. Wasn't really over the moon when I saw that we got Russia & Turkey......
