Why is the Western world repulsed by this kind of stuff?

Sainsbury's has become the first UK high street supermarket to stock edible insects.

Barbecue-flavour roasted crickets are being put on sale in 250 stores across the country from Sunday.

The Eat Grub's "smoky BBQ crunchy roasted crickets" are described as "crunchy in texture with a rich smoky flavour".

Packets of the insects will cost £1.50.

The grubs have been on sale from online supermarket Ocado for at least five months, with mixed reviews.

One poster, who gave the product one star out of five, said: "My hubby... said they didn't taste at all of BBQ... he could taste was fish sauce? Way too expensive as well."

But another, who gave the full 5/5, said: "Tried the final flavour in this selection from Eat Grub and LOVED this - much tastier than a bag of crisps without the calories. Couldnt stop eating them!"

I ate Locusts in Mauritania. They used to fry them in an iron skillet/pan over some hot coals, they taste like a cross between prawns and chicken and they are a sought after delicacy there. People think nothing of raising a cow, feeding it for months on end, using up loads of land and resources to then stun it and slit it's throat to kill it for its meat. But they shudder at the thought of eating insects that breed in their millions.

Had roasted ants in Colombia. Had them in a big jar in the shop and you just helped yourself- Quite nice in a crunchy way.

Mind you any one ever see the story about the rugby lad that ate a slug for a dare, not the brightest thing ever. The slug was carrying a parasite that left the lad a paraplegic and he eventually died.

Me too, people very much underestimate the protein value and taste of these insects. I always buy a bag of crickets or silkworm pupae when I see them at the market. Lovely and crispy with a pleasant nutty taste, great snacking.

I think you all very much underestimate what a ****ing freak you’d have to be to willingly eat this kind of ****. Insects ffs. That’s what lizards eat. And Tom Waits’ character in Dracula.

Mate, if we all have to start eating insects, it’s too late for the planet, we’re ****ed. It’ll be Soylent Green next.

It makes more sense to just mallet all the ****y vegans and trannies to pulp and reduce the population.

And then eat them as well - they would probably be good for you.
