Revealed: Where Bristol City SHOULD be in the Championship
The stats on the season are in.

13th placed Bristol City should be just outside of the play-off places according to statistics from a national radio station.

TalkSPORT have gone through every match played so far this season to see what should have happened - and the results place the Robins six places higher.

The so-called Super Computer believes City should be in seventh with 27 points rather than 22 as they currently have.

Lee Johnson is coming under criticism from Robins supporters after a run of three consecutive defeats but the boss is convinced that City have been unlucky in certain games.

    How does it work?

The table is made up of a calculation of ‘Expected goals’, ie how many goals a team should score in each match.

That judgement is made according to the number and difficulty of shots they have in a game - comparing opponents figures suggests who SHOULD have won.

    24. Bolton Wanderers – Real position = 23 (relegated)
    Real points = 16 | Expected points = 9

keep them coming WIZ love your dedication to bringing to the forum all your posts
this latest one is a real hoot

my super computer says if we hit the crossbar with a lucky header off the back of the head of our centre forward who was facing the wrong way and trying to stop himself from falling over would take us 3pts higher had it gone in …………… really!
this expect is to me a real poormans jobsworth of a means to get attention...
had we not beat so and so a 1-0 and lost 1-0 to so and so b we would still be in the same place … of course you can add to that had there been no goals then the situation would be SO AND SO a would be on 1 point better we would be 2 pt worse v so and so b we would be 1 pt better off they 2 worse our net is a 1 pt loss so we can expect our position to differ depending on goals actually scored … not what might have happened ..
it takes no consideration of players form or why they are in the team poor sub etc etc etc

Though stats can be useful to a point, at the end of the day the scoreline is the only tangible one, and the best teams will get the most points come the end of the season.

Our s**t run has lowered the mood understandably, but it is recoverable - unfortunately, that doesn't seem too likely at the moment and the likelihood of us being in a relegation dogfight seems more likely than a playoff challenge. Hopefully some work can be done over the International break so that we have a more competitive team once we're back in action again.

John I only copy and paste Bristol City FC news items to the forum, our membership is thinly spread over a wide area and not just in the local area, always put the link at the base of the report if people require a factual check, I do like to keep people updated and informed, I don't have any motives except a common bond with all Bristol City fans.

If they create interest people comment, they soon drop into obscurity if no one bothers, I'm not dedicated I just like to keep our forum ticking over as you do yourself.

I like it, because the BP website is horrible - with all the pop-ups and adds, it often crashes my browser.

Not heard the rumour , doesn’t seem likely , it’s not SL’s way and it’s not necessary, we all know until, & unless things get a whole lot worse LJ is going nowhere.

I don’t agree, SL has already stated where he wants to be this year. Everyone thinking he won’t sack LJ as that would make him look like he made the wrong decision in hiring him. Is a simple get out by saying he’s improved us season on season but we want the next step.

To clarify , do you think LJ will go if we don’t improve on last years finish?

No, I think he’s got a season of consolidation. But I do think he will go if we don’t improve quickly. If we do improve then I would think anywhere above 16th or 17th would be classed as consolidation. Flirting with relegation will be his calling card.
If I was a betting man then I would be surprised if he sees Christmas in charge if things don’t improve. We were awful against Hull yet won, first half against Stoke bad then really good. Then the games against the two teams in the bottom three, well less said the better.
I’ve always stayed on the fence because I thought even during the bad runs that the team has tried, but 45 minutes in the past 360 minutes has shown me he’s lost.
One thing I will say on the matter, is if he can turn it round I would be over the moon as I’ve always wanted him to shut the doubters up.
I’m not like RR who wants it now and always bar that one season with Cotts double season, always wants a manager change every November. But I’m starting to feel concerned with LJ’s choices and blind faith in players not in form, with one of them not in form now for 11 months.

we do always seem to give up the most important points … like the 6 lost against bottom 3 teams . a win which we should have …. actually PNE is in false position so 4 points at least we should have would put us 8th or 9th [ level points ].
between 10th and 16th would be good consolidation … however we may flirt with bottom teams as fixtures dictate end of season is when the picture is finally revealed ….. or of course when the points left mean you cant get out of bottom 3!
