lets face it in todays world the use of the word "Racisit" has been diluted to mean almost anything . Hands up , anyone who hasn't done any of the following scoffed at the chances of the white guy in the 100m finals. stared in wonder at the black guy in lane 8 in the swimming. wondered WTF at the Asian guy running the fish n Chippy felt robbed when finding out the rapper on the radio was a white kid from Baisingstoke that it is amazing that a black feller can be president of the USA ive been guilty of most of the above , racial stereotyping it might be , but from my point of view i dont feel its racist Its not like what our grandparents thought - that those of a "funny" colour were somehow inferior , I have trouble believing theres many people out there whatever their colour that dont have preconceptions based on how a person looks. Its something deeply built into the human mind
WS is pretty much right. The boundaries are very obscure as well. I mean, if I were to say "black men have big cocks" nobody would say anything. If I were to say "black people smell" then I'd be lambasted as racist. Why is this? Both comments are stereotypes pertaining to certain physical attributes, with one deemed unacceptable and the other entirely ignored. Strange...
I must be simple minded then . I can just imagine the following taking place; Vikingboy is out with his new girlfriend and her parents in Medici's . In walks Liam Rosenior with his bird and another couple . Erik points out to the company he is in that one of his favourite players has just entered the restaurant. His girlfriends old boy says , ' Oh which was he then then ?" Erik looks him straight in the eye and says two words ," The ******* " Stunned silence and Erik is left standing on his own wondering in genuine disbelief what he has done wrong .
I think Erik would say (as would I) "The black guy".......unless both guys were black! Then he'd have to say: "The tall one/small one", or "The lighter/darker one".
I'm starting to think you're a little bit obsessed! If you read my posts, you'll see that I refer far more often to 'Black' people than I do '*******s'. If you really want to know what I'd say in that situation, it would probably be 'Black'. Anyway, provided this hypothetical woman was an educated one, and was less prone to moments of hysteria than you are, I don't think she'd walk off.
It wasn't meant to be taken literally old boy. Even someone as obsessed as me wouldn't imagine anyone would say such a thing , well maybe Mel Gibson .
Ah but there would also be some clever so n so heckling "racist!!" at you for even describing the person as Black . He could have been described as the "one in the White shirt" , " the shorter one" ,"the one on the right", remember to be colour blind , like i said above , i dont think anyone can hold up their hand to that.
I'd really worry if someone described me as 'White'.......I'm pink! (albeit a bit tanned at present).
The photos are not funny; however the term "*******" was acceptable in the past as was "*****loid" and "caucasian" as they are the 3 main races. Yet these days it's been thown in the racism bucket so we're better avoiding it. I really don't get the PC brigade though sometimes, there shouldn't be anything wrong with the term "paki" but it's the associations with immigration which makes it unacceptable, if you called an Indian an "indie" I don't think he'd be bothered..
or an Australian an Ozzie ... the problem is see though is calling an Indian,Sri Lankan or a Afghani a "paki" - then i see the issue. Tho lets be honest , we all have our differences and we prejudice against them without realising it , whats most important is what we do TO or Around the person. Calling a Pakistani a "paki" may be argued to be accurate or non offensive , but if they find it so then out of common decency it shouldnt be said .
It was disgusting what happened on Friday in Bulgaria, no sports person or anyone for that matter should have to put up with racial abuse of any sort. People who make monkey noises and other derogatory behaviour towards black players should be ashamed of themsleves. A lot has been done in this country over the last 20 years or so to stamp racism out of the game and make those who are racist accountable for their actions, hopefully the game globally can follow the same route.
I hope you can read this, unless I'm still on your ignore list - That upset me a great deal. Shame on you.
thomsen dutch mountain dog finds blind people funny. check out the jokes thread. is a photo worse than a sick joke????
check out the pakistani joke in the jokes thread. racism is alive and well and living in the hull city forum!!!
and a crass, uninformed generalisation based one comment you've misunderstood is far worse than racism in my opinion. You need to appreciate the difference between people that are blind and their symptoms. For what it's worth, the joke is one of a number of similar ones told to me by blind people. They are part of a group of blind and partially sighted people I help out on a voluntary basis. Their attitude to life leaves me feeling very humbled. This thread's been quite reasoned so far, let's not spoil it. Allegations of racism are usually used by people to stifle debate on the subject. It has became a word with no real justifiable definition.
