Pretty sure I stopped there myself on way back from Worcester to Hereford too. They had no scotch eggs but I had a sausage roll then I think. Or pasty maybe?

I'd love to eat expensive well reared meat all the time but it's just not feasible.

Yeah mate. Well it's Turkish owned

Goat is what i grew up on as a kid. It was very expensive and now that it's cheaper yiu can't get it in the cuts like lamb etc. It's pretty much a mix and on the bone

Mate of mine goes to a local farm and just buys a goat now and again. Gets it slaughtered etc.

Was Gonna try that myself but needs someone to cook it right

Lidl do some decent pork and chicken which isn’t too expensive. Organic rare breed stuff.

Only ever tried goat in a Caribbean curry. From one of those multi cuisine buffet places. Was nice.

Problem with some stuff is what people are used to.

As a kid I grew up in a semi rural place and so the chicken was literally running around before cooking. My Mrs and her family never liked the straight to plate stuff. They said it tasted funny

When I started eat frozen meats the smell used to put me off. It's not a strong smell but it was different

For me a fresh chicken, that's been running around has a taste never tasted in farmed caged chickens. But I guess it's what you get used to

    I'm taking the piss.

I much prefer the Asian food scene. A bit pot everyone tucking in.

None of this, this is my food, get off.

It's a social gathering, i also miss all the eating with the hands with things like sticky rice (as someone mentioned earlier)

We have a carribean organisation in stoke thag I used to hire to do food for events who made goat curry. These are old ladies not chefs etc so its proper home cooked stuff. Fantastic

The Pakistani goat curry is different and not as good in UK imho.

Goat meat is leaner and I like it more tbh.

I know you are mate. It's all good.

Yeah I agree eating is a big thing in the asian scene and very much a fabric of family life. Something I really miss (being married to a white lass).

I sqw this programme a while back where some Greek dude has a big fire pit in his garden where he regularly just throws on a whole lamb and invites folk around

Did it with goat and it looked lush

I guess you would need to baste it more as there is less fat

Massive portions, small plates.. Many dishes, tuck in.

One big plate of food is pretty boring really.

I’d probably **** it up as I did when I roasted a joint of venison.

Every year one of the regulars in my local shoots roe deer. My local is run by a Sikh family. Last year he took a load up there and he made us all tandoori venison kebabs. Bloody brilliant they were.

Tell me about it. Think I've been hungry since I left home <laugh>

On a serious note though I reckon that's how I put on the chub

As a kid I ate 3 times a day and they were proper meals so no snacking

Now I eat my spag bol and them snack after a couple of hours. Even get up and make a sandwich when talking to you at 3am
