Hello, everyone. I’ve said before on these pages that it’s my opinion that Mr Charlton has a host of once raced 2YOs in his ranks who could potentially prove very useful next season (Fashion’s Star being at the top of this list incidentally). One animal that I’d deffo include amongst these, runs tomorrow – namely LADY ADELAIDE, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, at Kempton Park (5.00). This one made her debut at Newbury, last month, and put up a highly, and I do mean highly, promising effort to just go down by a neck to the more experienced Muchly from the yard of old boy Gosden (that chap also won the only previous running of that Royal Berkshire maiden, by the way, with the subsequent Group 3 winner Highgarden). Lady Adelaide travelled extremely well that day and was just run out of it close home due to a combination of inexperience and being edged left by Muchly. Now more battle hardened expect the old girl to improve enormously of the morrow. Eyecatchingly the pair were a whopping 3.75 lengths clear of the rest of the field. The downside of such a wager is that at this time of the year a 2YO filly may have had enough or quite simply ‘bounce’ after a debut run. The other potential dread, as ever in this type of contest, would be that amongst the unraced brigade there lurks the ‘reincarnation of Pegasus’. However, I’d be prepared to say ‘fear not troops’ and lead the regular readers re a plunge on Lady Adelaide. I think she could be good and expect a win tomorrow evening, people. Good luck all.
Good quality card at bangor on dee today, it will be heavy going mind , think marias benefit will win but jester jet stamina wil come into play , looks a interesting race . No strong selections from me today !!
LEMON T is an interesting runner in the Ayr bumper. Nicely bred. Certainly wouldnt be pegged at 33/1 if the old man was still alive!
The cards at Exeter and Bangor certainly look good, for a Wednesday. At Bangor, looking forward to Barney Dwan (1.50) and Maria's Benefit (1.20), of course, but one to watch there might be Mister Fizz in the 2.55; on a four timer, progressive, perhaps? Worth a chance, I think. At Exeter, I've gone for Sonoftheking in the 2.05. Good Luck all.
Looking in today’s ‘Weekender’ I see that last year’s winner was drawn 9/13 and the last 2 races run at Kempton over a mile went to animals berthed 11 of 11 and 6 of 13. But yeah I would agree with you it’s not an ideal draw and Lady Adelaide could have been luckier in that respect. I do think though that her performance at Newbury hinted at huge potential and she should if reproducing that effort (and hopefully she will also improve from the race as well) win this. I think her class will allow her to defy the higher number. Lady Adelaide now drifted out to 2/1 though as money comes for the Gosden and Mohammed runners. The Cumani filly in contrast is very, very weak and has had her odds doubled (4’s to 8/1 in a place)!
I was going to say what a lovely name for a filly. But cor bally blinkin' blimey it's a gelding! 'Blue' across the board on Oddschecker right now apart from Bet365 who have pushed him out to 25/1. The question must be asked - 'What do they know?!?'
In the Ayr bumper Do not Disturb 5/1 Third in a point-to-point in Ireland, form franked by the first two.
Wouldn't be eligible for the Derby right? But a beginners chase at Exeter is OK I guess. What are the rules on these things?
I believe it is a specific French breed which can only have thoroughbreds and Arabs in the pedigree. But looking at the pedigree database (which was the first thing I did) it doesn't indicate the arabs so I was lost
What’s interesting is that AQPS horses don’t have the postfix to their names. Wasn’t Mon Mome a non thoroughbred?
