Monty python is an extremely broad church. To claim that all of Monty Python's output was horridly unfunny is pretty lazy and simply untrue. Life of Brian is very funny. One of the funniest films ever made in fact. The Holy Grail has it's moments but fairs well when judged against some of the Pink panther films. Meaning of life is another that hits the spot on occasion but is mostly just a mess of a film. Flying circus is a bit hit and miss. Some classic comedy in there along side a real pile of ****e. In saying that it was pretty ground breaking for TV at that time. Hope this helps.
Life of Brian is one of the funniest films ever made. I think Eddie got frightened by the sight of a woman with a full bush. Fawlty Towers and A Fish Called Wanda are also very funny. As Aldo says Monty Python is a mixed bag. A lot of it was public schoolboy humour which doesn't really stand up to scrutiny today. The fact that it's cited by so many comedians as a big influence on their careers shows just how influential it was. A lot of comedians took their comedy and refined it. I'm not a fan of Monty Python (apart from Life of Brian) but then I'm not a fan of most of today's comedies, especially British ones which are little more than virtue signalling, PC bollocks. <oldfogey>
Ironic that Eddie highlights a skit from life of Brian that uses someone's manner of speaking for laughs but finds films where 90% of the comic content is based around the lead characters dodgy accent funny.

Holy Grail was funnier in my opinion ... Monty Python has loads of terrible sketches and some hilarious sketches and a lot of 'meh'. However, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore ...especially cook...are hilarious.
