If you’re having a hip replacement you might be wondering if titanium is magnetic. It turns out that titanium is weakly magnetic (compared to other ferromagnetic materials) in the presence of an externally applied magnetic field.

Titanium also exhibts the Lenz Effect but to a lesser extent that many other metals. For example, when a magnet is passed over a metal like silver, copper, aluminum, or brass, the moving magnet causes small electrical eddy currents to form in the metal. The electrical eddy currents have their own magnetic field which interacts with the moving magnet. The result is that the moving magnet causes the metal to move without touching it. With more senstive equipment the Lenz Effect could be measured in titanium.

    ****y you

They used titanium or stainless steel, neither of which are magnetic hence not setting alarms off in airports or security systems in shops etc.

A Liverpool expert may have solved the mystery of how the Great Pyramids were built - after making a startling discovery in an Ancient Egyptian quarry - by accident.

Dr Roland Enmarch is a senior lecturer in Egyptology at the University of Liverpool and since 2012 has been involved in a project to excavate the 4,500 year-old Hatnub Quarry.

The expert and his team have spent years deciphering the ancient inscriptions left on the walls of the Alabaster quarry by Bronze Age workers, but earlier this year the team's focus switched to excavating the ramp structure out of the quarry and what they found astounded them.

Dr Roland said: "We started to clear away the debris and found an incredibly well preserved steep ramp, with two staircase type structures at the side of it and postholes - that would have been filled with wooden beams to create a pulley type structure.

"We know that the Greeks used a pully system for building, but this structure is 2,000 years older than that - suggesting the technology is much earlier than we thought - we never expected to find what we did.

"The ramp out of the quarry was built at the same time as Pharaoh Khufu's reign and he built the great pyramid at Giza, so we can surmise that this was how the pyramids would have been built, if the technology was well established at this time.

"Over the years there have been many theories about how they were created, including outlandish claims they were put there by aliens or the people of Atlantis.

"People have always though ramps were involved - but this is the first archaeological evidence we've found to back up the theory - so it's very exciting, certainly the most exciting discovery I've been involved in."

Dr Roland and the team will now concentrate on excavating more of the quarry, to discover what the whole industrial landscape looked like.

that paragraph about sums it up.

makes you think if a system could have been in place for 2000 odd years before, and we didn't realize, what else have we fecking missed or staring right at us but don't see it <laugh>

    Steel ramps? <yikes>
No. I did point the scars on my knees out every time I was about to go through one.

not its a steep clay type ramp with a set of steps carved in for the slaves/yokels to pull the pulley blocks. There's holes where posts would go at regular intervals and they identified those as LIKELY to be for a pulley system.

I find the people who sell alien stories as pure shysters. A lot are university trained archaeologists who have decided digging in the sun is boring or too hard work so they see a market to sell alien stories to idiots and do.

I thought all the daft alien stories were buried years ago - apart from the people who just get so attached to a story they refuse to accept evidence to the contrary.
There was the discovery a few years ago of the journal of someone who worked as a foreman on the pyramids. There are detailed records of the logistics of sourcing and transporting the stone and the methods of assembling and dressing them.
Nowhere does it say "and we used the magic lifty thing that the Sky People gave us".

Theres always more idiots to peddle stories to.

you just ignore what is inconvenient like science or facts.

because a stone building thats tall needs to be wider at the bottom than the base cos they are all just piled on top of each other means that aliens must've done it. how else could civilisations as far apart in time and distance like the incas and the egyptians build these things.

Seriously if you took some of these clowns to a medieval church and showed them the stone work they'd claim it was aliens as we couldn't do it now.

Machu pichu is a prime example. According to the nuts its impossible for humans to carve stone.
