Half time and we are trailing 1-0. All the reports from those there suggest the team hasn't turned up. Who'd have thought it
How is RD going to sell the Club with comments like that appearing on Charlton forums! You've just scared off three potential buyers
Pulled back to 1-1 with a goal by the Sharp shooting Toby Stephenson. From 1-0 down, and given the huge number of inexperienced players bought in, it's an okay result - Mansfield were no doubt hoping to provide a cup upset and thus far it's not happened. however, I imagine our starting line up for the replay will be similar, so plenty of time for more problems. For today, we go into the second round draw. RD must be rubbing his hands together with glee.....if he's actually aware we played today and in which competition.
Somebody will send him an email letting him know. Toby Stephenson's value is already climbing. RD will be looking forward to pocketing that money in a year or two.
Toby bundled the ball in from close range - well done him. Ajose was dire by all accounts. Looking forward to reading the match reports of the 1.5 606 Members at the game today. Mr Shorts aka @Clb74 Mr P1ssed aka @baraettmattesvensson
Reams has wondered on ITTV why we appeared to only have one physio in attendance today. Apparently this might not have been the first time either. Since I was not there I cannot say if this was even a correct observation. But if it is, it is curious to say the least. Granted staff can sometimes be away on holiday or off sick themselves, but you would think the Club could cover for an unexpectedly missing employee. If there is now a policy of having only one physio in the match-day entourage when there used to be more than one, cost-cutting would appear to be the most likely explanation.
If true, it all points to more cost cutting. We used to have 3 medical staff incl a club doctor. Surely there is a minimum mandatory requirement...
It's also not great to hear that Charlton brought only five substitutes to today's game. I suppose LB wanted to spare some of the regular team the trip to Mansfield just to sit on the bench. But is our squad really that threadbare that a couple of academy kids could not be invited along for the day out? A chance to fill that bench and take in the atmosphere of a first team cup tie. Mansfield managed to field a full bench of substitutes. Surely the lack of subs for Charlton was not also down to petty penny-pinching?
Team would have stayed near Mansfield last night.. two less subs and one less physio means 2 or 3 fewer hotel rooms
Jonkool has speculated that maybe the squad traveled by mini-bus, and there just weren't enough seats. I think he was joshing, but you never know. That big shiny team coach must cost a lot of money to run. A nice little second hand Commer panel van (two careful owners) would save more than a couple of quid.
According to my reporter we were awful. Dijksteel and Lapslie not too bad, but Naby is still sh1te like the rest of them. Toby may be a crackshot but he can't defend. I wonder how many stands will be open for the replay?
I am assuming Mansfield fielded a near full strength team. The run of form that they are in against our team of youngsters, misfits and average players I think we done well to get a draw. In the first half Phillips pulled off two very good saves but once we went behind I feared the worst. Once we pulled level I thought we were going to get number two when Ajose went clean through, but Mr Attitude noused it up. We play like this at The Valley perhaps we will go out like we so easily could with the poor first half showing.
480 advanced so I'm guessing a shade under 600. I specifically looked at the tasty menu for 1/2 time. Mr van Gerwen would have only had to shell out £5.75 to clear the bet.
Massive og by Bowyer yesterday. We do not have a game for two weeks so there is no reason why he should not have put out a full strength team.
