Wouldn’t say that we were gifted the win. But a gift of a goal made our win inevitable given how poor Fulham were.

The referee and linesman were particularly poor today. Really [HASHTAG]#bentasfuck[/HASHTAG]

Once one went in we were always going to win.

Linesman got the call right, ref got the rolling ball wrong.

Wewerepoorenough and I'm not arsed really about officials.

First of all he was actually offside

Secondly, the ref only guessed because of 4 other Fulham players in offside positions obstructing his view

The inactive rule needs scraping if it's supposed to allow you to have half your team offside and then after the fact claim everyone but the goalscorer was inactive

Yes but did the linesman only guess.... which isnt directed at you btw.

Guess what?

He knew for a fact multiple Fulham players were in offside positions and moving to play the ball

Did he know Mitrovic specifically was offside? Almost certainly not since 4 offside Fulham players were in front of him and then another just behind him making judging his position impossible

If that goal was wrongly allowed to stand, would it become a [HASHTAG]#legit[/HASHTAG] tactic to block the linesman's view with an offside player near the line, claim he was inactive so can't be offside, and claim he can't give anyone else offside because he can't see?

That would be the precedent being set

Beat the lower teams is not an achievement. We are not scoring enough against them.
In previous seasons we don’t beat the ‘lower’ teams
So I am happy we are clearly addressing the game management aspect
If that means sacrificing some of the entertainment quotient then I am fine with that
But we are getting perilously close to another well trodden debate :)

With regards to the melt down you referred to
Two wrongs don’t make a right which. U seem very close to the it all evens itself out but it doesn’t

No idea what would have happened but the goal v Arsenal should have stood no question
We may have been denied points against top 6 rival

I would have traded that to go a goal down today
As I would have fancied our chances of being woken up as a team had that happened.

Also think of the possible ramifications for Fulham and sides around them.

All I have ever wanted is fairness VAR whilst clearly not perfect would assist in getting a step closer.

This is spot on and is where the rule has lead the game. Linesmen have an almost impossible job unless they either wait to see which players become "active" or guess. They are not meant to be mind readers!

Still. The official is not supposed to give the foul/offside/penalty if he didn’t see it. How many times did we see barn door clear cut pens not given because the ref didn’t see it clearly?

I think you would have complained if we had conceded that goal as Fulham did with the ruling off of the goal and the quick free kick..;)

He should have given the offside for the 4 players he could see

They are active if they are moving

If they aren't there and Alisson is one on one with Mitrovic then he easily deals with it

Being running distractions makes them active

Hang on. I thought that you insisted that Mane wasn’t offside just because he was running towards the ball...;)

My point is there's no point thinking about referees and linesman. They can be ****e. I wouldn't even say it evens itself out. You have to focus on what you can control.

Going nuts about one decision in the 19min of a game we later lead and ignoring the problems we have is as counter productive as defending a refereeing decision that favours us.

We sat off and strolled this one before and after we scored. We know whats not right with our lot but right now we are top of table, we may be 1st 2nd or 3rd by next week and it's tantalising close to being a proper outfit.

Yes he should have been flagged off in the first phase and there would be no debate.

:bandit:

Seriously can we now please park the refs and discuss the issues we do have?
