You can't go stating reality. The British media have been oompahing all week (month) about it being "reckoning day" and have been banging on today as if the house changing hands is out of the ordinary. I was pretty sure that it normally happens anyway.

No, but that’s a huge part of what is feeding them. They’re old. Even if they can defeat the Democrats, they cannot defeat Father Time. So their future does not extend into the long term anyway.

They see themselves (not incorrectly) as being in a desperate situation with nothing left to lose. They cannot win elections even now, so they just cheat. They tend to be religious, too, so there is some faith that if they fight the good battle until the end, God will reward them with a miracle.

Whatever it takes to keep hope alive and if you can’t keep keep hope alive, then go scorched Earth so at least the other side doesn’t win.

The clock is ticking, and they know it and it drives their desperation. Things are going to get way worse in the next couple years. Way, way worse.

The world is becoming a scarier and scarier place every day. The US totally polarised by the extremist in the White House who is only there to feed his ego and make more money for himself and his cronies. Brexit tearing the UK apart with families and friends pitted against each other. Brazil, Hungary, France, Germany, Italy ..... so much of Europe moving to the nationalistic right and we’re busy destroying the planet’s resources with hardly anyone listening.
Jeez, it’s depressing. Stop the world I want to get off ....... :emoticon-0107-sweat<yikes><yikes>

Hmm. The world has become smaller, and nations are getting more territorial. Strange. Just when we need to work together, we make life more difficult to do so.
I'd rather live in a shared world than a scared world.

Shared world? So why does the EU need tariffs to stop African Imports etc? All the talk is about sharing. All the action is about protection.

Following his admission that he had only just realised that Britain is an island, the latest reports from Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab is that he "has only just realised that pancakes are cakes made in pans".

Dominic Raab announces that he's "only just realised to what extent" the world is in fact an orb circling in space.

EU want a massive free trade agreement with Africa. It was in the latest state on the union speech. Dedicated a whole section to Africa.

    It beggars belief

Luckily we’re not exiting the universe .... this term anyway!

I don’t know much about Raab’s Background but I’m guessing it was very sheltered!

Boris Johnson’s brother, Jo, has quit as Rail Minister in protest at the deal May is “negotiating”.

Labour need to tread very carefully, when the deal is voted on in the house because they have, I believe, stated that a No Deal Brexit, would be a “case of self harm”.
If they go ahead, and vote down what will probably be a bad deal, forcing a No Deal, then I think it is clear how the media is going to spin it.
Possibly best for Labour to abstain and let the Tories take whatever flak their deal brings.

Labour are consistent in their position on any proposed deal, and will vote against it if it fails to comply with any of the 6 tests they put forward last year. The tests are:
    1. Does it ensure a strong and collaborative future relationship with the EU?
    2. Does it deliver the "exact same benefits" as we currently have as members of the Single Market and Customs Union?
    3. Does it ensure the fair management of migration in the interests of the economy and communities?
    4. Does it defend rights and protections and prevent a race to the bottom?
    5. Does it protect national security and our capacity to tackle cross-border crime?
    6. Does it deliver for all regions and nations of the UK?
It’s quite likely that the shambolic negotiations won’t result in a deal that meets all of those points.

I get all that, but I can see Labour being lambasted in the media for causing a No Deal Brexit, by voting down a poor deal that would suddenly be the best deal ever, once the media spin it.
It’s almost a Catch 22 situation. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

I kind of agree, but if the deal gets voted down it will mean the Tories have lost the support of the DUP, so a General Election will be in the offing. I would hope the British public would blame the outgoing government for the shambles rather than the opposition.

Well yeah! Not sure I understand. We live in a shared world. We don't share it very well due to greed and self interest; and demonising/polarising is the new in! This appears to be happening even more in my perhaps limited view.

I think Trump has just learned that the world wars involved Germany - just wait til he learns Japan were on the same side!

Emmanuel Macron suggests building its own army to protect Europe against the U.S., China and Russia. But it was Germany in World Wars One & Two - How did that work out for France? They were starting to learn German in Paris before the U.S. came along. Pay for NATO or not!

    Trump is a monstrosity.
He even cancelled a trip to an American Cemetery because it was raining, such is his respect for those that gave their lives, just so that an arsehole like him would one day become President of the USA.

Edit. To be honest, when I hear of shootings in America, I kind of hope that he is the victim.
