Yeah I know <laugh> It's a topic that I know will invite some piss taking with, buying second hand stuff. But I'm easy with it.
Got myself a fully waterproof North Face jacket for the winter, £28 off ebay. They are £220 in the shops.

Loads of fakeTNF gear on EBay mate.

That's one brand I would steer clear of to be honest.

    It could well be.

I used to buy climbing gear from eBay years back and TNF was notorious for it.

My Mrs and her mum both ended up with snide gear.

I always buy Mountain Equipment or Rab myself but she loves The North Face.

If it's real, it's good gear.

I couldn’t live a life just owning things that are essential for survival. I rarely waste money on myself but I don’t share your enthusiasm for a minimalistic life.

Things I hate in life are like when I’m sat at dinner with people and they start saying “Well my dinner was £7.49 and his was £12.10 so we owe...” utter bullshit, life has to be better than that, take your £19.59 and get out ffs.

“Are we having starters?” What on earth does that mean? Just stay at home and eat the frost out of your freezer you absolute crab.

I can’t have mates who behave like that.

He’ll probably rip it anyways when he’s climbing over dead logs to take pictures of them.

Yeah remember us having this conversation before. Rab, Marmot etc are all good clobber. I don't buy everything second hand. Got a good pair of Garmont gore-tex shoes for cycling/walking. But I shopped around and got them from outdoor.de in Germany. They do loads of quality outdoor stuff for around 20% cheaper than UK prices.

I'm not a skinflint though, I'm very generous with my family and friends. That's the sort of stuff I'm happy to spend money on. If you're out for a meal, then just go dutch if it's mates. People who start flapping about having a cheaper dessert and not wanting to pay as much deserve to have their face shoved in the deep fat fryer.

<laugh> Can't be having that either.

If I go out with friends of workmates we split equally, including a decent tip. So what if mine cost £1.50 more/less than yours!

If someone isn't drinking then fair enough, they shouldn't have to chip in for other people's booze, but that's the exception. We had this site engineer (same stupid **** who brought a Rustlers burger to a barbecue) who gave the correct money to the penny. Wouldn't let him order with us after that, he ordered his own food and drink and paid separately.

I should have made sure he sat on a different table too, the twat.
