Morning 5.55am Flemington [Australia] Blair House @ 5-4 [William Hill] To continue the great week down under for Charlie Appleby
I think it is time that a 5YO hurdler made up into a serious Champion Hurdle candidate once again (the last top-notcher I can remember is the ill-fated Our Conor) so it would be nice to see We Have A Dream smash up the Elite Hurdle. His stablemate is a very decent yardstick so this should be an informative contest. The racecards look so much more appealing these days than those 7F handicaps at York
Footpad runs at Naas - nice. Is Nassau Board around? Do you find Naas nice Nass? (Always wanted to write that )
We're going to get hammered mate not even bothering to watch it. Better to watch a film I saw on the plane - Super Troopers 2, pissed myself laughing at that
New trainer and he’s back out - very interesting to see how he goes tomorrow for Marjorie. Luke Morris on board interesting to see if the change of scenery goes for SQUIRE.
I think he wins handsomely. 2lbs off. Change of routine will have freshened him up and Luke rides him well. Michael had him fit so she wont have had to change much. First time up is usually the one. I really hope he does the business.
Hoping to get to Aintree tomorrow, and just a note to see if Stick has owt on the bumper at 3:55...?? Like the look of Misty Whisky but looking at the other two at the head of the market Blazers Mill & Sojourn, it looks like there's a bit of competition in this one. Could be a race to take notes from for future reference...??
I picked 2 horses for Donny earlier in the week. In my November Handicap thread I went for Buzz, as a likely improver who should have more to come over 12F. He was 10/1 and initially wasn't catching many fans but he's been popular today and vying for favouritism. I see ATR tipped him in both their racecard selection boxes. Maybe that's a curse My other selection runs in the Gillies Fillies. I was going to do a preview for the entire field but it was taking too long. I felt the older fillies with the stronger form looked vulnerable and wanted to take them on with a 3YO. The two Frankel fillies, Bona Fide and Anasheed looked to have the most potential improvement but they will need to improve. In the end I thought they held similar chances, with a preference for the twice raced Anasheed. Bona Fide's latest win came after a generous looking 5 lb drop from her first handicap run and she won from a mark af 80. Up 8lbs for winning that still leaves her with a bit to find. I thought Anasheed was the better prospect and Owen Burrows is in excellent form, 3/8 the past fortnight and at 14/1, compared to 6/1 for Bona Fide, she seemed a better value bet than Weld's filly and a cheaper option for a watch than backing the proven fillies who have not been winning but are about 7/2 or 4/1. 1.30 Doncaster Anasheed 14/1 and 3.15 Doncaster Buzz 10/1 for two singles and an each-way double are my only bets this weekend. Best of luck everyone.
I definitely don't like Misty Whisky - give me a nice amber colour any day. That said, I have been alcohol free since the 5th October. Not by choice, but because "you can't have alcohol whilst taking this medication" Another downside to being sick then - are there any upsides?
just some fancies for today: Hells Kitchen (aintree) Plinth (Naas) Present Man (Wincantin) To be Wild (doncaster) Lucky 15 each-way and singles.
Just the one bet today...no relation to moi but anyhoo... Badger Ales Chase - Captain Bucks 10/1 each way. Jockey booking takes my eye and horse had a sighter over Wincanton fences finishing 3rd when given too much to do. Has no weight and the rain will help. Big run expected.. Good luck all.
Taking on the jolly in the badger ales with captain bucks. He had a spin round here recently but was caught out on the ground running on at the finish, will relish the ground.
Good luck...these heavy downpours which could last for most of the morning will help. Looking forward to seeing We have a dream v verdant blue v redicean v if the cap fits...what a race that is if all stand their ground...
All from Aintree... 1:00 - Quoi De Neuf 1:35 - Dream Berry 2:10 - Wholestone 2:40 - Martiloo 3:20 - Baby King 3:35 - Misty Whisky Right im off to actually watch them now... Good luck to all who are playing today... please log in to view this image
