Roughly translated you wanted to avoid me at half-time for the pie and pint. Or.... 1/You could get the train and stay overnight 2/Get the Robin Reliant out and drive yourself. @Clb74 was at death's door after his appendix operation and he still managed to go to Bradford three days after major surgery.
Indeed, that one got by me. But it is a remarkable set of stats. No wins from six previous games with less than a week to prepare. That indicates to me that the team is having to put absolutely everything into getting every win, even against moderate opposition. Bowyer may well be firing up the team superbly to perform before each game, but they are getting the job done on sheer willpower and adrenaline alone rather than superior or even adequate fitness and stamina. That might be OK in April, with just a few games to go after a long and gruelling season. It is not so great in October / November. Willpower and adrenaline are not cards that you can successfully play for months on end.
Surely Dillon Phillips will play today ? Dean Smith is said to want Steer back at Villa in January, and they won’t want him Cup tied. I say it every season, but it’s no bad thing if we go it today. Our squad is not big enough to sustain a Cup run.
Our cup record has been diabolical, even when we were good. There's always the chance we could pull off a giant-killing act and win, so I haven't given up. I'll be getting a report from FHB jnr., who lives in Nottingham now.
There is a poll on Twitter of how far Charlton fans think we will progress this season. Well over half so far have predicted we will go out today.
Phillips Dijksteel, Pratley, Sarr, Stevenson Marshall, Lapslie, Maloney, Ward Ajose, Grant Subs Steer, Morgan, Hackett- Fairchild, Clarke, Fosu. After seeing that team, definitely a home win.
Normally you would say that line up is disrespectful to the travelling fans...then you recall who our owner is.
On ITTV they have posted links to team sheets that show Phillips as the goalkeeper picked to play. Steer apparently on the bench, with Aston Villa's permission. Is Jed Steer Cup-tied simply by being included in Charlton's match day squad? Or would he actually have to play part of the game?
