Manchester City vs Manchester United: Is the power shift now complete in Manchester? Manchester City v Manchester United, Super Sunday, Sky Sports Premier League https://www.skysports.com/football/...is-the-power-shift-now-complete-in-manchester
I'd be more interested in the spanish clubs lining up to attack man city over FFP than man utd getting a result. There could be a serious impact on city coming if they are actually found to have been hiding money.
Considering Mourinho's behaviour last night could have had repercussions on the travelling Utd's support's safety and his club's reputation he should be punished by Uefa and his club. This is the same hypocrite who's caused mayhem at Chelsea twice with Utd(Conte and a couple of weeks ago), ran and knee slid the full length of the OT touchline in front of the Utd bench, poked the eye of an opponent, slated and made fun of fellow managers like Wenger "expert in failure", Conte referring to him wearing a wig and insinuating he was involved in cheating in Italy. On the flip side he goes ballistic because City players celebrated in the dressing room after beating Utd, took offence because Conte celebrated a Chelsea goal on the Stamford Bridge touchline in his managers zone. Nothing wrong with managers and players celebrating goals but if it's done through hate or incites the opposition staff, players or supporters it shouldn't be allowed, causing **** against an Italian club in Italy can have serious repercussions on away supporters and considering the stabbings etc Italian ultras are renowned for he was an arsehole to use those antics last night.
It depends what's they mean by power. In footballing terms, the City team has been on top for many years now. Ever since Ferguson retired. And United has not even come close. But as a club in terms of finance and support and profile, the red mancs are far ahead. In fact one could argue that since Ferguson retired they've gone even further ahead. City's secret and illegal machinations have not helped and if UEFA had some balls they should be punished properly. Not some fine of £20m which is peanuts for them but points deducted and banned from competitions. But FIFA and UEFA are scared of City's owners. I think their secret/illegal payments are unfair on clubs like us which try to compete within our means. City pumping unlimited amounts of cash into players/managers just to get the very best ones provide an unfair advantage. City ought to be deducted some points but I am not holding my breath.
Jose Mourinho is a little rascal. United deserves to get something from the game but was not expecting a win.
See.... this is all about perception. a) its pretty clear city can barely fill their ground on a good day and on CL nights they don't (the OOTs can't get tickets or something) Utd never have any issues there. b) its pretty clear one set of owners are breaking the rules pumping money in while the others are sucking money out. c) its pretty clear that over 10 years utd are more successful but over last 5 its city. d) its very clear city have set records in the league but City have never won a double or a European trophy. "power" is a relative term. In theory no club has any more POWER than any other. however revenue, spending power and clout all speak.
This in an interesting one, the only clubs big enough to seriously threaten city and make uefa actually do something are madrid and barca. If they continue to put pressure on them i do wonder if it will have any effect. For all their money paris and man city do not have the clout of the spanish clubs, if something is to be done, it will come from other clubs kicking off, rather than the governing body inforcing their own rules
In terms of football, no one could argue that City have the best team and the best manager and that could last quite a few years. And they may also have the richest football club owners in the world. Like being funded literally by a whole state to the tune of billions, without paying attention to the need to balance books or make profit. But as a club in global terms in terms of following and profile, City are not even close to LFC. If the UEFA/FIFA are serious about FFP then they surely must do something about these irregularities.
I heard an interesting point on a football show about how City are ruining the PL. Not in terms of themselves winning, but by their (illegal) massive spending encouraging the other top clubs to spend even more, which has contributed to the recent massive split between the top 6 and the rest of the PL. Medium sized clubs like Everton have been cut adrift where they can't even dream of challenging for the CL any more, and the smaller clubs are just being flat tracked by the top 6. The PL is now less competitive and less attractive week to week. The PL themselves should fear City and curb their excesses.
