Bit like politicians, it all starts with good intentions but reality becomes different!!
As for LJ, I think he does know the style he wants but with the players that's been bought he's trying to adapt. It's being able to get the right players in I think's the problem. I'm sure when the transfer market opens, he knows the players he wants. Getting them to the club and at the right price is not easy. It becomes, "who's available, at what price".
He's a bright young manager still trying to master his craft and doing a decent job in a very strong division...
I agree, it's been (for the average supporter) a slow progress especially with the players brought in....but with a bit of patience I think we will get there.
To change things now IMO would create a negative rather than a positive....could even affect SLs involvement..

That does not make any sense. Players are being brought in that don't fit the football???

I imagine the players that LJ really wants, to fit into his style of football are either too expensive, not available or doesn't want to come here.....so with the players he is able to get, he is trying to adapt and at the same time trying to be competitive in the championship...Hope that makes sense!!

That's possible, but I think he has to play with what he's got, what he thinks will suit the next game...

It doesnt really make sense. He has had forty odd players Diedhiou, Djuric, Hegeler, Engval a lot of money there for instance. It looks like a lack of cohesion and not sticking to one plan.

OK let me make it a bit easier for you......I own a car sales, I want to be the best. I don't have the finances to sell Ferrari s or Lamborghini's.. So I have to start with what I can afford... now and again I might be able to get in the odd BMW...But if I continue to do well my showroom will contain much better cars...
It's a working process. At the moment I have mediocre fleet that will do a job...hopefully in the future much better will become available.....
    NB. I don't sell cars!!!

bit tetchy. the car thing is quite good way of putting it. but what Lee Johnson is doing is not that. you want speed and energy in your football you buy that car with speed and a tank of petrol. That is not happening. Diedhiou, Djuric didn't and dont have the speed and energy to play the football City play at times. Diedhiou cant put in forty five minutes of high energy. Weimann and Taylor have energy but more money is spent on Diedhiou who as posters on here point out does not fit and is a problem. Process there??? its scattergun stuff.

I agree with you, how things have worked out so far..I think, maybe, LJ is trying to be too clever but with average talent at his disposal. And yes, he and scouts have brought these players in, but on a budget for signing on fees & wages on offer.
I think he has more than one style, depending on opposition, tries to mix it up, but like you said it's a bit scattergun stuff.
I do think we need to be a bit patient and not scrutinise every result that doesn't go our way...

IN A WAY I can see the point of Fammy, a good "old fashioned centre type" lurks around the box hopefully luring defenders whilst the trickier players sneak in the goals, target for set pieces and high balls from the wings … but not just lumping forward!
43 players in but no mention of how many out! makes for a one sided argument ….. don't do OTIB … BUT WAS THERE A MENTION OF HOW MANY LEFT?
RP raised the comment so maybe he would be able to balance out his comment? …..
the other point to note is that the club getting the loan has to contribute toward the "wages or maybe a "rental" figure?" so ENGVALL for instance did not "cost" us overall as much as we could have forked out … [ also do international teams have to make a payment toward a players call up? ]

'Giefer, Golbourne, Lucic, J Smith, De Girolamo, Tomlin, Magnússon, , O'Dowda, T Moore, Duric, Hegeler, Patterson, Brownhill, Engvall, Wright, M Taylor, A Matthews, Abraham, D Cotterill, Diedhiou, Pisano, Baker, Hinds, Eliasson, Steele, Bakinson, Holden, Semenyo, Walsh, Woodrow, Leko, Kent, Diony, Watkins, Webster, Adelakun, Weimann, Hunt, Eisa, Maenpaa, Da Silva, Kalas

when you break down the 43 [ actually 42? ] it doesn't make that such a bad read, players in red or green are playing or on loan or injured doing or done a good job so far...…..26
In blue are players that came to do a job / did fairly well but became surplus to requirements ….7 [ Tomlin between red and blue!]

    33 players of 42 == 80% on positive side of average plus / 12% a job / 8 % failed

In black, players who did bits of good and we were useful on the odd occasion when needed desperately …. 5 players

Bigger letters ...failures … 4 players
    its only 42! ? btw?
so all in all not such a bad picture

the world is full of peeps that "shout the loudest, spout the most ....... and vilify those that dare to speak out" all for self promotion of their inadequate selves ... like the OTIB clown!
its good RP brought it to attention, like Wiz's efforts on an almost daily basis keeps most of us "up to speed" ...

If asked "how many LJ's reign had brought in" i wouldn't have had a clue [ bear in mind some are future prospects and LJ probably cant be credited 100% for them ]
But how many have left and who?

Those who LJ signed and have left are irrelevant and TBF it's best not to talk to much about Dionny, Engvall, Kent and others.
That's muddying waters or selling BMW's.

The point being made is that after almost 3 years and 43 'attempts' we have no cohesion, he has no idea of his best 11 and no clear direction of play or what LJ calls DNA.
The 'whole story' will be clearer as the season goes on and LJ enters his 4th year in charge.

Of a very competitive Championship, one of the best leagues in the world, where as previous managers at the club have failed....Funding may be a factor, but that's what's requited nowadays....most clubs follow suit!
