Urgh. This is the problm with slippery slopes, once you start down them the descent gets faster and faster.
Would be an interesting (and brave) appoinment. Has any manager from the MLS ever come to the EPL before?
It’s grim alright. Nonetheless, I believe both are better than Hughes. Allardyce in particular could keep us up. He is a great manager of no-talent clubs which is what we are, unfortunately.
Hardly surprising given our situation, could be a backlash from the fans if he's appointed. Actually there probably won't be sadly.
Oh god. Even though I do think he would be better than Hughes, if it happened I would be devastated. If we appoint Moyes, I will stop supporting saints. Call me fairweather but I will refuse to watch us with that clown in charge. We will have fully become that team that everyone laughs at
Not sure why the animosity against Moyes. He did a decent job at Everton and actually had a better win ratio at Old Trafford than several of his successors there. Definitely not Allardyce for me though. What happened to Laurent Blanc?
I just hate him, he is so backwards and uninspiring. He was abysmal at West Ham, appalling when he went to la liga. I just cannot see how he is an upgrade on Hughes. They are the same thing
I cannot see us pulling a rabbit out of the hat....as said, we are no longer that attractive (apart from our ticket in the EPL) and the board is probably more risk averse than they were. I can see us going for a usual suspect and (hopefully) managing to stay up this season...I am desperate enough to go along with this, but please, please let next season be more successful. Mid-table mediocrity is suddenly soooooooo attractive.
Sorry folks, but a hapless victim fearless volunteer is required to do the Watford thread. Come on, it’ll probably only be for one game!
I don't like Moyes, I don't like Big Fat Sam. but at least he has some pedigree in keeping teams up and can coach a defence. I don't think Moyes has shown much beyond his time at Everton where he did well in a very stable setting. We don't have that here. Not sure BFS would take a contract until the season end though. And nobody really want's him beyond just keeping us up this season. Should that happen there's no denying we are in full Sunderland mode. Funny that both Moyes and BFS managed Sunderland in their spiral of relegation battles. We are such a joke.
The Sunderland fan I know loved Sam. Said he was the only time in about 10 years where it looked like the club had some idea what it was doing and he had some hope for the future. Then England came calling and he left and it all went back to Sunderland of old. He hates Moyes.
That was my point for trying to justify why nobody has really broken into the first team. Its easier to break in if you are in a Championship team. Cant help thinking that many of our youngsters couldn't have done a worse job and would have saved us millions
