The reaction to her statement on Twitter spoke volumes. They (FOBT) should never have been allowed onto High Sts, and they have proliferated in deprived areas.
Two sad and not unrelated incidents involving the (useless) Met Police overnight. Many people will have seen the social media footage of the bonfire night celebrations involving a Grenfell Tower effigy. Poor taste and childishness, but nobody was injured or killed as a result so why a Met Police Commander and then the Prime Minister felt the need to comment, I dont know. Overnight the Met Police made 5 arrests for public order offences. This will be a hard one to prove in court even if the CPS does decide to press charges - in short, a gross waste of public money and police time. Last night a teenager was stabbed to death in Tulse Hill, South London. He became the 119th murder victim in London so far this year. I would prefer to have a police force (and a Mayor directing them) that devoted all of its resources to solving real crimes like this, rather than responding to fake outrage on Twitter.
