Hoedt allowed himself to get dragged out of position for that last goal. Bertrand came in to cover leaving Sterling free
Then there is the seemingly forgotten Bednarek and Yoshida... good enough for their national teams, but obviously not a patch on Hoedt ....
I don't disagree, and I don't want to bash Forster, but he should never have been offered a new long term contract on big money when he had already been playing poorly for a half a season or more (and struggling with injuries). I assume we tried to shift him this summer but couldn't,...presumably because he's on too much here. However, I still think signing Gunn was a stupid decision given our supposedly limited budget and large holes in our team and squad. Spending a large chunk of your budget on a player that is unlikely to feature would only have worked had all our other signing hit the ground running and been on Liverpools wish list in January. Big gamble that, and sadly given our recruitment over the past 3 or so years, that was unlikely to happen. Unfortunately for us, Gunn is looking like the only good player out of the lot and he won't play because of his position. And here we are, deep up **** creek once again. So frustrating, but there's no easy fix. We need changes from top to bottom if we have any hope of stopping the rot.
Strange as it seems but Ings could have had a hat trick today. I think the stats are going to be interesting
Spending £19m on Vestergaard was way worse then spending £10m on Gunn. I would love to ask why we don't buy Championship players at all
