6 years ago we turned up to Man City with this line up Davis Clyne Fonte Hooiveld Fox JWP Lallana Schneiderlin Puncheon Guly JRod Bench: Gazzaniga, Richardson, Shaw, Seaborne, Davis, Lambert, Sharp Wonder how they'd get on today!!
Rather painless journey surprisingly. Traffic was fine through the M6 roadworks. I suspect the painful bit starts in 2 hours time.
God is it only 2 hours?! I still have to rip up a carpet and attempt to rub down skirting boards. Oh well, may have to miss a bit of the match.
Did you find the road at the back for parking, or did you park in the college car park down the road from the academy? Impressive isn’t it? Did you notice the artificial pitch down from the academy, with the sky blue coloured surface?
Gutted for Gallagher that he's injured and misses out but great for obafemi. And James ward prose starts!!!!!
People asked for Charlie to be dropped. Hughes has done that. People asked for JWP to come in for Ely, to give us some sort of set piece threat. Hughes has done that.
And no 3rd DM on the pitch or the bench! Elyounoussi, Armstrong, Austin and Obafemi on the bench seems a tad....crazy. Bold move. Hope it pays off.
I still don't understand why we would select two CBs on the bench, rather than one CB and Targett (when Bertrand went down injured briefly last week, we immediately sent Yoshida to warm up; indeed, at one point he was almost fully stripped to come on. All because we'd selected two CBs, and no FBs.)
People (well, this person) asked for a win. Or at least not a humilitating massacre. Wiil Hughes have done that, by 5:00 this afternoon (allowing for sufficient added time to allow City to score - again)
To be honest, I've very rarely argued with Hughes' sides. Yes they aren't always perfect (see my two CB on the bench nit-pick), but by and large I like them each week. And best of all, he seems to notice issues, and tries to rectify them. As opposed to following MP in picking the same out of form players for 20 games running. I just don't get the Hughes criticism.
