I keep reading this, but is it true? I've seen nothing official. Even Ledley wouldn't have been able to play in midfield with his issues.
It's a rumour that won't die. He's gone from one of our best players to someone who appears infrequently, despite not being injured and being kind, just about occupies a shirt when he does. Something major's up. We sold Sandro to QPR, despite his injury being such that he'd never be the same player again, although he could still just about play. From what I've heard Big Vic's in a similar condition. The club were and are still willing to sell him, which was unthinkable after his first season.
I think the fact we're also seemingly heavily interested/ close to signing Wilmar Barrios suggests one of the DMs may be on the way out as having three wouldn't make much sense... And I highly doubt it'll be Dier to make way.
It was surprising that he played the whole match. It's less surprising that his knee is causing further problems. It's a terrible shame for such a nice guy. We've also lost Sandro, Ledley and Wilson Palacios' talents far too early - all great blokes too.
Is it pure coincidence that 3 of the 4 are/were DM’s and Ledley played there too. Off hand I can’t think of other clubs with a similar problem, but there may be a positional connection?
I'm thinking that it's the position plus their physical size. Most big physical players play up front or centre half and don't do the hard yards that midfielders do. For big blokes the joints take a terrible pounding. My knees are shot and will need replacing very soon. Big physical types carrying lots of weight on those joints will cause problems eventually. Supposedly, with Big Vic it's also contributed to by playing lots of football on hard African pitches. For a big fella, that's a poor combination.
Swap your knees for mine, yours can't be worse than mine. Mine spent 17 years running up and down ladders before I went to uni, then been carrying 120 kg + ever since. Reached 138 kg once, that hurt.
I spent 17 years tiling roofs before I went to Uni and got a civil engineering degree. Running up and down ladders all day carrying shed loads of very heavy tiles. If you want a job the fecks your knees, try that one.
That doesn't sound like fun. I don't like ladders or roofs.......or scales.......or civil engineering degrees........or tiles.....or......

So it turns out that one of our youngsters has two names: for the U18s he goes by Malachi Walcott, but for the U23s he goes by Malachi ***an-Walcott - the latter of which looks a bit ridiculous on the back of his shirt
