I see there is a group now recruiting members to start up a Newcastle Branch of Sunderland Supporters.. I'm sure that will go down well on the darkside.. I have suggested they call it North of Tyne Supporters Asssociation as I do not like bad language being associated with our great club..
I lived at Morpeth for a few years We had a nice little supporters club A nice haven among the unwashed
Vince i was born in Pegswood anf me and my mste always turned up to the morpeth supporters club do's at the Comrades Club. Over 30 years ago that and they were great nights
Goes way back. When Football was a game mostly played on a Saturday afternoon with a three o'clock kick off, we would alternate home games. So the Northumberland mining villages would come to watch us every other week then N/C. Their coaches would park up at Roker. This was a 'two way thing as when N/C were at home the coaches from the Durham mining villages would be parked up outside of Sid James. For about half of my lifetime it has been not only possible, but quite acceptable to support BOTH Clubs. And when it really matters I think you will find that most supporters of both Clubs still do.
I knew this was a thing! For what it’s worth I’ve been to the SOL before and I’d happily go again. The drink is cheap and the Wheatsheaf (I think!) is a brilliant pub with very friendly bar staff (although they are obviously unaware of my allegiance and I suddenly become incredibly Yorkshire ha!) Also, the atmosphere is amazing, or it has been whenever I’ve been!
Most certainly from the late 50s No sunderland supporter has followed Newcastle And no Newcastle supporter as followed sunderland Well not that I know of
What about Chippy @Albert's Chip Shop on our Board? Oh, you mean at the same time...okay I understand now...
Yeh I also had a mate who supported sunderland until 1968 He now goes to all the Newcastle matches home and most away matches
