It was one of the unions strongests weapons, solidarity strikes, so the tories made it illegal.

The last positive workers rights initiative by government was Parental Leave delivered by Labour, the party of the unions.

Subsequently TUPE regulations have been watered down and its now harder to ballot for strike action.

The EU did **** all during this time except back a UNION of workers claim for holiday pay to be paid for overtime.

The EU is a UNION and a closed shop, and it has MEP's flying all over the place instead of pickets, so nothing has changed for the militants other than they now bow to the wealthy instead of fighting against them

 

Aye and my original post was about Unions now, the present time, you're the one who wandered back in time to the halcyon days when the unions actually had any power or did any good. They've been an anchor around workers' necks for about the last 50 years.
