Of course our condolences go out to this famous club in their hour of need, goes without saying! Though that being said and meant sincerely, we certainly need the points, and I suspect a low key draw is the likely outcome. Can’t think of anyone famous turning out for this one, but I did hear that Frank Mclintock may make a return after a long layoff...to be confirmed pals! Bollocks are waiting!
Glad when the Leicester game is over to be honest. I don't want us to be in the spotlight - much rather duck back under the radar. No disrespect whatsoever to the Leicester players, staff and fans, but there's a danger this game is being turned into something of a wake rather than a football match. I fully accept the depth of feeling toward last Saturday's tragedy by the players in particular who appear very close to their owner, but getting this weekend's game to be played at all seemed difficult enough without the media hysteria that will surround it. Something that cropped up in an exchange of PM's with another member this past few days was that this is a football match with 3 points at stake and we want them all. The very necessary and correct pre-match procedures having taken place, when the ref blows his whistle to start the game, I hope we revert to competitive football at it's best and may the best side on the day win.
I agree with all this apart from the last few words. I hope we win even if we are not the best side on the day.
Charity begins at home....and we are home....hmmm, so yeah I guess! Been thinking of a suitable collective noun for my three bollocks and the best I can come up with is a “load” of... Fug you on about Masky? Lost it big guy has! Hear hear....by here!
Some interesting predictions on the Leicester board - looks like we've got no fckin chance....... https://www.not606.com/threads/week-11.368513/#post-12255609
Can’t blame them for thinking thus, I would predict similarly in their shoes! With Warnocks negativity today as to not having a clue about tomorrow...who has?
It’s hard to tell how much effect the emotions of the past week are going to have. I think that if they get an early goal they could run riot and get really fired up. However, we’ll be competitive (especially after our last home game) and if we get out ahead, the Leicester players could fold after what has been an understandably tough week.
Emotions are bound to be running high. I just hope they fail to score altogether from a personal point of view besides the obvious implication for City. Really don't want to see a Leicester player scoring and then pointing to the sky - I just find that so naff and embarrassing..
I hope we take all 3 points. I also hope emotions don't get the better of any player such that they do something rash. If emotions start running high, it'll be a tough one for the ref. I'm sure the Cardiff fans in the ground will show due respect, but come one minute past three.........
Just our bad luck to face them in these circumstances. I just hope the officials don’t feel sympathy towards them- mind you whenever do the officials favour us
Leicester will treat this game like a cup final. So hard to see us getting a win. This is a game where we need to be very strong. Have to hit them hard and perhaps hope that Leicester actually try too hard. Still, I think we have ended up in the worst scenario possible. NW has to have our players ready to treat this game as a dogfight to the very hand if we are going to get anything. We need to attack from the start.
I agree with this - I really wish we weren't playing them today. If they weren't before, everyone outside CCFC supporters will want to see us lose and them win this one. Perhaps we can turn that to our advantage? A sort of seige mentality might be the answer. Dogged and gutsy rather than trying to impress could get all the points if not the praise - I'd take that.
Hey Sparkey. Do you really think we should be patient at the start? They may have some early nerves. If we let them attack us, I am not sure we can hold them out. We need to make them defend.
City have to get into their faces right from the start, not give them an inch and make their players realise they’re a long way from home and hope they’ll buckle. It’s a huge week for City with 2 home games on the spin.
Don't get me wrong Temple, I've always hated it when we sit back - it does my head in! What I meant is that we should be solid and not give anything away through stupid mistakes - they are a good side. I've always advocated that attack is the best form of defence - within reason!!. One goal could win this and I hope we get it.
I agree - and then we let in a stupid goal. We need to control the game whether that means being in their faces or just breaking them down. Today's game and Brighton are massive in terms of our future direction in the table.
Leicester manager Claude Puel says Saturday's result is not important, but that the team will play to honour owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, one of five people who died in a helicopter crash last weekend. Captain Wes Morgan is available after completing a suspension. However, Daniel Amartey will be sidelined for four months following ankle surgery. Cardiff midfielder Joe Ralls serves the final game of a three-match ban. Harry Arter, who is one booking away from suspension, may return to the starting line-up. Jazz Richards is out with an injury sustained in training, while Danny Ward, Lee Peltier and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing remain sidelined. Martin Fisher: For once, the result of a Premier league match seems of little importance. Last Saturday's tragic helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium reminded us all that football is only a game. The loss of owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who died along with four others, has been described as the darkest day in the history of Leicester City Football Club. The outpouring of grief throughout the week from players, staff and supporters alike has underlined how highly regarded he was. After the game Leicester's players intend to fly to Thailand for his funeral but first they intend to honour his memory on the pitch. As motivation, I can think of few things more powerful. Leicester City players and staff observed a minute's silence on Monday following the death of five people - including the club's owner - in a helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium Leicester City manager Claude Puel: "This weekend, and all the matches thereafter, we play to honour a man who did so much for our club. "The result is not important, but our desire, our actions to give our best on the pitch to honour our chairman, is the most important thing. "We have a responsibility about the memory and the work he put in place. Vichai made Leicester City into what it is. He made it a family and made a dream and we must continue the Leicester City he built." Leicester helicopter crash 'puts things in perspective' - Warnock Cardiff manager Neil Warnock: "Originally I didn't think the game would go ahead, and if I'm totally honest I was hoping it wasn't going to. "Monday and Tuesday this week, it was too emotional. But I understand now where they [Leicester] are and I think it's a good decision to go ahead with it now, because you've got to move on and you've got to get people back to normality as soon as possible." It is hard to know where the Leicester players will be mentally after such an emotional week. Cardiff will be competitive, but I am backing Leicester to get a win on what will be a difficult day for everyone. Prediction: 0-2 Lawro's full predictions v v rock band Bring Me The Horizon Head-to-head Cardiff have lost just one of their last six meetings with Leicester in all competitions (W2, D3). This will be the first top-flight meeting between the sides since 1962. Leicester have won the last three encounters at the highest level, scoring 10 unanswered goals. Cardiff City The Bluebirds could claim consecutive top-flight home wins for the first time since April 1962. Cardiff's passing accuracy of 63% is the lowest in the top flight this season. The Welsh side have attempted 24 headers at goal - only Everton (32) and Leicester (27) have recorded more in the division this term. They have conceded 29 goals in their last 11 home Premier League games, keeping just one clean sheet. Callum Paterson could become the first player to score in three consecutive Premier League games for Cardiff. Leicester City Leicester have won six of their last eight Premier League games against newly-promoted sides. The Foxes have scored in each of their last 12 top-flight games (W5, D1, L6). They have kept just four clean sheets in 24 league fixtures, conceding 44 goals. None of Leicester's last 12 away league games have finished level (W4, L8).
City 12/5 underdogs to win this. Got to have 20 quid on it. Also Arter @10/1 to score anytime - another 8 quid on that before he gets sent off....
