The "Good old days" thread got me wondering a bit about english folk music. I like some of the more up to date stuff like the Levellers and McDermott's 2 Hours. Not so hot on the comic type stuff of the wurzels. Chaz n' Dave are cockney folk music but no real message. I have listened to a bit of Lindisfarne and I like that. Billy Bragg is under the banner too. Bruce Scott has written some amazing songs, Steeleye Span have some good stuff. Any recomendations for me?
i wasnt aware we have/had any folk music bud. the best i can come up with is Ozric Tentacles. not sure if they are folk or indeed English. hope this helps.
Check Ed Sheeran out, very talented lad-

That is really good. A commercial type of sound but so much more. I'll dig a bit more into that, I likes.
Some very good stuff here after sampling them Rebs. You would think they would be plugging it. Probably not 'cool' though. I'll certainly be digging into these artists. That Ed Sheeran song is brilliant.
I'll have a look at that sky arts thing in the morning. love this track about a wedding between a middle class British army officer and an Irish girl.
It's not really an English thing Rebel it's more Scots/Irish IMO. Bad sound on this but check it out live if you get the chance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYc-MxAg9XM
I know, we'd be celebrating this **** like it is the greatest thing ever if we did it. That Sandy Denny is sensational.
I like that. I don't know too much De Dannan stuff but I am gonna try and listen a bit more. I prefer angry stuff i think
Much appreciated. I didn't think i'd get such a response on here, but that has made my day that. cheers.
