No loyalty in football today, it's ultimately all about money, players use clubs as a springboard to a better club with better wages or to screw as much out of them as possible if they think they won't get their desired move.
Players might sometimes give a club an extra year but if they get their head turned and want to go they will, Spurs are no different to anyone else in that respect despite their fans thinking the opposite.

 

It's what happens in the real world, take a look at how many top players sign new contracts months before making a big move

 

Sometimes with a clause, for example 'if we don't make CL this season and a non English club in that competition come in for you then we won't stand in your way' sort of thing.

Ahh, he is one of those "we only sell players that want to leave" types like so many others (Berba, Modric, Walker, Kean etc).
What escapes them is the fact that you can't sell any player unless he wants to leave, a player can just sit on his contract until it expires as long as he doesn't break it in any way.
All clubs only sell players that "want to leave".

Yep, and like I said, players who don't want to go are impossible to move (Markovic ?) from your team alone. All teams have had them though, City had Bridge who stuck around for ages (**** knows what happened to him, is he still there in the canteen?).
