Ask any Newcastle fan what has gone wrong and you are likely to hear straight away that it is everything to do with the owner. The club has been up for sale, yet no one ever seems to actually wish to buy it. Currently you can buy it if you have some spare cash, but the latest prospective purchaser pulled out earlier this year. XXXXXXXX Newcastle welcome Watford to St James' Park on Saturday still going in search of their first win of the season. It is now 10 games without a win this season for the Magpies but Rafa Benitez's side did lift themselves off the bottom of the Premier League table with a 0-0 draw at Southampton. A win at St James' Park could lift Newcastle out of the relegation zone but they face a Watford side who are in form. The Hornets are currently seventh in the Premier League table and head to Tyneside on the back of two successive wins since returning from the October international break. Newcastle have never before failed to win any of their opening 11 fixtures in a top-flight campaign. Watford have won their last four PL meetings with Newcastle and could now match their longest run of victories against an opponent in the top flight, having beaten Stoke City five times in a row between 1983 and 2015. The Hornets have won their last two PL matches without conceding and now have a chance to make it three in a row for the first time since December 2015. please log in to view this image Andre Gray has scored in both of his PL appearances against Newcastle, with those two matches coming for Watford last season. Watford will travel to Newcastle with extra midfield reinforcements after Javi Gracia revealed Nathaniel Chalobah is fit enough to return to the fold. It looks as though Troy Deeney is still unlikely to be fit.
But he has been very disciplined since those early bookings and not had one for a long time now. That said, it will happen this weekend now!
Goodness me - just seen this stat on the BBC website: The Magpies could become the first side to lose their opening six home games in a top-flight season - the last side to do so in any division were Watford, in the second tier in 1990-91. Good job the forum wasn't around then - would have been total meltdown!
Well not sure I like this: We should thrash them. Lawro predicts a Newcastle win. There is an "r" in the month. I like us as underdogs Only joking. We will win 0-3 What's great is that without a full squad to choose from, that looks like a winning starting 11 to me. Now Success has had scoring success, plus him playing really well in the last one, the flood gates could open. My Toon mate who lives in Ayr has given up hope of salvaging anything from this. And among he toons, from what I've read, he is not alone. C'mon u'orns
IF.... we win this I think it really sets out the season for us.... IF .. we can go on to beat poorer teams regularly..... could be a top 8+ finish..... a few IFs though On the other hand Newcastle could finally come good and we are brought back down to earth COYH....
Harsh on Masina that he makes way. But the inclusion of Holebas adds to the attacking armoury out wide, as well as his set-piece qualities. Watford Observer
Good afternoon all. Firstly that fine newspaper the Daily Telegraph ran a fine 3 page article today about A week in the life of Watford, it was quite illuminating. I would be curious to read of other clubs weeks to compare them. Watford are quite happy to reasonably open about their approach to football. You will have to register to read the whole thing (free). https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...rd-glimpse-behind-scenes-premier-league-club/ I really don't think Newcastle deserve to be in the EPL, simply because of the way they are run by the owner. We should be aiming for 3 points here but despite their poor start to the season, they have not shipped a lot of goals so it might be tough going to score. If I find a stream will post the link, but I might need one myself. I see Bmuth lost so we should take advantage of that. Enjoy the game. COYH
