Exactly. That's why I asked about criteria earlier. What is considered influential is highly subjective.
And as mito pointed out, it's a US mag, so there could be stuff on there we might never have heard of.
I saw a top 100 of theirs a while back and it had Beyoncé as No.1.

I don't think you could argue with any of those top 5. The Beatles and Dylan are generally accepted as being the most influential modern artists of all time. The Beatles heavily influenced Steely Dan and Neil Young, so that's good enough for me <ok>

    Bro.

I named 3 beatles albums which are generally held as their best 3 with maybe the white album too, and are always hailed as 'best of all time', one or more was bound to be in the list

Same for those two Dylan albums

It's also an American magazine so there might be expected to be a slight US bias, hence the shout for Pet Sounds which is another album that's always hovering around No 1 as best ever

I mentioned Led Zep, the Stones and Gaye so it was 3 not there, not just one red herring !!

    I could.
Solely based on them being called "the best". There's no doubt that they are all they're cracked up to be, but there are many, many other artists who have revolutionised music in their own way.
It's a matter of opinion, nothing more.
I would generally regard the Beatles as the single most influential act, but there are plenty who will argue with that.

As I pointed out, a lot of the albums at the top of these lists don't change around very much, although there are nuances depending on whose list it is, i just picked a few that are universally considered 'great' and in the area of 'classic rock' so liable to pop up everywhere

Anyway I need a bigger spade
