It wasn't meant to be - good to see that they left nothing on the pitch and really went for it though.

Very good performance. I thought Vrancic was fantastic the whole game and could definitely function in the Prem. Can't help but think that none of our strikers would be Prem class, though, and we would need to find someone if we do go up. Rhodes has been a bit of a liability in the last two games, while Srbeny just seems to lack a touch of class. Pukki the best of the three maybe. Pity that Oliveira is such a prima donna because he has the ability but he is a waste of space in terms of attitude.

I think if we had had Defoe we would have won. Even at his age he looked a cut above our strikers.

Disappointed with the result, but still a high class performance by the sounds of it.

Srbeny - getting into good positions and with a bit of luck/composure starts scoring freely? Or donkey being picked out by very good midfielders?

    Possession: 43%/57%
    Shots/OT: 8/3 Vs 19/7
    Corners: 4/7

Bottom line is that we need to concentrate on the league but this game suggests that our style of play could fit well in the PL. Had Pukki and Rhodes come on earlier it might have made the difference, but well pleased with the performance against an in-form PL side.

Also, no TC and Pinto went AWOL for their first goal.

With the exception of maybe Pinto and McGovern, everyone in the team last night showed they could do a job for the first team if / when required. DF's coaching methods are clearly starting to pay long term dividends.
19 shots, 7 on target and hit the woodwork at least twice.
    The boys done good <ok>

They most certainly did Cromer and on another night, we could have been joining Burton in the quarter-finals and great to see the overall improvement n our performances and how players are developing under the tutelage of DF and his staff. :emoticon-0104-surpr

I thought all of the players did well considering many of them haven't played much lately. Pinto overcommitted to high pressing at the wrong time to leave room for their first goal but did all right after that. McGovern is a reasonable back-up for Krul, but will probably move on in the summer. Playing so well in spite of the number of changes indicates the strength and depth of the whole squad. The SW/DF system really does seem to be taking off. Long may it last!

I don't want to scapegoat McGovern , but his kicking was horrendous on 3 or 4 occasions he kicked it straight to Bournemouth and played them into attacking situations.

Krul is very good with the ball at his feet much like Angus was, we look much more comfortable playing from the back rather than lashing it out for a 50/50.
He wasn't at fault for either goal though for me

His kicking was poor and that's not dependent on matchplay really. I should think he spent some extra time practicing his kicks today.

I read some player ratings on FLW I think it was and only McGovern and Pinto got poor ratings (Sir Benny's was quite low as well) - excellent to think that the other 5 replacements did so well and shows the strength in depth DF has at his disposal this season, especially when you consider that both McLean and Hanley won't be match fit until December.

Agree about the other 5, but had Srbeny's shot have gone in after hitting the inside of the post he'd be a hero today. It's a game of inches really. I'm not a great admirer of the FLW blog, which too often lacks objectivity in its judgements.

Compare this from the Pinkun with a detailed account of Srbeny's game:

Sounds like we were so unlucky.

Can't say I'm that unhappy. I'd rather a loss in the Cup, than in the league.

I think it's the best kind of loss. We played a Premiership club. We battered them, we made many changes, but still played really good football. Shows that the tactics and training are running through the 1st team and reserve team.

We didn't have to deal with Extra Time this year. Annoying we didn't get the win we deserved. But it's ok.

    I think so.

Every game, I look at availability. My gf keeps saying she will come to games, I love her for that. I think we will be at the millwall game
