We have no pulling power, yet we attract players who decide to come to us over Champions League football. Flawed argument.

 

I never listened to it but I saw that 'Sunderland have a better team than Newcastle'

Well how come we always beat them and still continue to beat them?

Also, I think we have a much better pulling power than Sunderland as we are by far a bigger club than them

Like how he says is our strikers going to do it? but automatically thinks the Sunderland strikers are going to do it...

 

Talking about Ba on bad form: "Yeah he's pretty ****"
Talking about Gyan on bad form: "Ohhhh Gyan you little rascal you!"

He says Newcastle can get 5 points from QPR, Villa, Forest

Bit hard since Forest aren't in the Prem...

 

Our signings are poor but he can't wait to see David ****ing Vaughan for Sunderland

I bet they earn a damn sight more than him, and so they should.

 

I used to like him, but why he thinks 5under1and have a better squad is beyond me. Taking my bias-glasses off for a moment, we have better players in every position except possibly Gyan. We beat them, play more attractive football, and can get rough when we like.

He seems to think that because 5under1and bought more players than us it automatically makes them a better team.

 

This. Plus if you compare signings then I believe ours are better

Cabaye or Gardner (Cabaye - France international class act while Gardner is a one season wonder imo)
Ba or Wickham (Ba - good goalscoring record on a free while Wickham big money buy who probably won't be ready for the Prem for couple more seasons)
Obertan or Larsson (Obertan - quick, skillful, helps out defensively while Larsson is a deadball specialist who is always distinctly average when I see him)
Santon or O'Shea (Santon - potentially world class fullback who already has 7 caps for Italy while O'Shea is an experienced pro who always gets skinned by Jonas)
Marveaux or El Mohammady (Marveaux is a player picked up on a free who nearly joined Liverpool while El Mohammady is ****ing ****e)
Elliot or Westwood (Don't know much about either tbh)
Abeid or Dong Won (Abeid looks a real find while Dong Won could be a Park or could be a Lee Dong Gook

Obviously they also got Wes Brown who is a class act in fairness, McClean who I don't know anything about, Bendtner who could be a good signing on a loan deal and David Vaughan who had a decent season last season

Either side there have been gambles - but overall I don't think there is much between both teams. Would say ours edged it

 

I seem to remember that Mr Courtney was once employed at SJP as some kind of PR man / press officer many seasons ago by a previous regime. Maybe his views are mixture of bitter ex-employee and need to generate callers' response to his tacky radio station. If you think he's bad, Adrian Durham on Talk Sport even worse.

This is so indicative of media coverage that has an agenda. For Courtney to try and compare squads in this way, 'on paper' as they say, is so pointless – it's just an opinion that could have more to do with his own prejudices against NUFC than it does anything else.

We will see who has the best squad this season by how the teams finish in the league. Frankly I see very little between them, you could take players from both sides to make better first elevens but I genuinely don't wish we had any of their players.
For some of the so-called expert pundits to have suggested that man for man Sunderland had the better team and it was such a shock when we beat them 0-1 the other week was utter biased madness.

It seems to be fashionable at the moment to hate Newcastle and put us down at every opportunity, which sadly has more to do with the owner's behaviour and reputation than it does with football.
Annoyingly I can understand this but it's not fair on supporters who have to listen to this tripe as a result.

These days 'pulling power' translates as MONEY. So yeah if we're not prepared to pay big wages anymore, all the rest of it only matters to those rare players that place a higher value on the attributes this club still has in abundance.
