But it doesnt mean that we wouldnt either, dont see your point as its invalid, it only held 22,500 so how can we fit 42,000 into the thing, your figures looked like it was a **** attendance, for the ground at the time, it was a very adaquate attendance.
wtf, calling people names now then eh, the attendances in the following 2 years was at the SOL with am pretty sure a 38,000 max attendance from memory, because of the lack of a metro, it was limited, it wasnt unti a couple years later it went to 42,000 and then to 49,000. I still dont see what your point is though.
my point is simply that we had better attendances in the chamionship than you in the premier league, so to the sunderland fans who find an attendace of 42000 hilarious, they should loook inward rather than outward
Yes but you have had a better recesnt history, its like saying Liverpool has a better attendance than Tranmere, of couse they have but if Tranmere were in the PL and fighting in Europe and had Liverpools history, it would the other way around. You do have a bigger ground than us. You do have more fans than us (locally and worldwide) St James park is easy to get to, either by car, or bus, train is a bit harder but its not that far from central station. Stadium of light is a bitch to get to in the car seemingly (I cant drive just what i have heard) car parking still needs to be addressed, instead of parking outside peoples houses. Its probaby easier/cheaper/quicker for me to get to St James than it is to get to the SOL, and I live in Boro. But you also have a better recent history than us, and even I admit you played some scintilating football in that time. Newcastle city center is more affluent than Sunderland City center, both cities have their dives though. You also have all of Northumberland to tap into, there are some Sunderland fans in Northumberland but you must outnumber them by 20-1.
why dont you saddos just comprimise at we are both well supported clubs given the **** we've gone through, would we have as good support if we'd gone 50 years without winning anything? would they have as good support if they had set 2 record low points totals and been humiliated like we have in recent times? who gives a f uck, grow up gentlemen and find something better to do than spend all of your saturday bitching on an internet forum
Pretty much sums up this MrTiote character. Nice choice of words. Shouldn't you be outside sjp protesting with your piss stained bed sheet and grammatical errors?
How many times have i heard this bloody pointless argument.......i know someone said past is prologue ......but ffs this is the 21 century...........both clubs have won nothing for many years....newcastle were close recently but blew it spectacularly sunderland were for periods in their long history the best in the land but does the historical achievements of the 1930's sunderland side hold any value today or does newcastles lets bring a chav to the party close encounter with the champions league ........its all history clubs like man u chelsea liverpool arsenal must laugh or worse take pity at our false sense of worth .......In the achievement stakes we are mediocre at best ....but in the one variable you just cannot put a worth to...fandom (behave it could sound rude)...We both can argue to be the champions league when it comes to support.......but only the fans and the money men value that, none of that goes on the record books and i for one know that sunderland supporters are the best in the land..but yet again I would say that..thats the point!
Why have all this beef regarding attendances. Truth be told, I would rather we had 1 person show up but had a fantastic team doing well in the league than have 50,000 and struggle!!
At least we can say we have rivaled them!!!! In all honesty both clubs have good support and deserve better.
