    Incorrect Eccers.

Churchill was one of the founding fathers of the EEC, not the EU of today.

The idea was for all European countries to protect each other so the world didn't have another Hitler.

The EU of today is a far cry from the EEC when it first started..................Now Merkel has stood down, the EU will begin to crumble a lot quicker now the cracks are widening. Italy is also contemplating leaving the EU, along with Hungry and Poland, they don't like how the corrupt EU pollies are treating'em......:emoticon-0148-yes:

    Incorrect LL

CHURCHILL is dead so it’s very easy to claim he would have supported Brexit or Remain, according to your personal angle. Like most politicians he said different things at different times. One of the most blatant distortions of his speeches took a speech made in 1930 and added it to a later statement and then pretended it was made in parliament in 1953 (it wasn’t).

Equally, I have to say be honest that Remain supporters take his comments about forming a ‘United States of Europe’ which he said many times, a bit too literally.

But he certainly did not only want to have the EEC, his comments go beyond what that entailed.

He’s dead so we’ll never know what he’d say today.

By the way, an anecdote about Thatch I find amusing. When negotiating our rebate with the EU, whenever she seemed to be flagging her aides would pour her another whisky - the EU side begged them not to as it made her unreasonable, the reply was ‘that’s why we do it’. Happy days.

LL there’s loads of these. They all take bits he said at different times to support whatever view the writer has. No one knows - Churchill would have decided his position based on the facts at the time. Also if he’d been PM he’d have got us a better deal than limp wrists Cameron.

Nope it hasn’t. That cash has come from slightly better borrowing figures - now, before Brexit. The £350m lie was that we’d stop paying into the EU and use it on the NHS. We haven’t left yet and anyway we’ll be still paying in most of what we have been paying, for many years.
