Have no worries on that score. It is not in Lambert's nature to do that. He continually drives himself to try and get to the next level - manage in the Premiership - and won't let anybody or anything get in his way.
But why wouldn’t he put the effort in? It’s not like he’s got an endless well of goodwill. One more dodgy entry on his cv and he’ll be with his old buddy managing kings lynn fir the rest of eternity...
That's pretty much how I feel about Paul, 1950. Does his best wherever he is but will move on if something better comes along.
He has a three year contract so he has no incentive beyond his own motivation. It won’t harm his CV because the club was in a mess when he came in. Of course the effort levels will be there to start with but if things don’t go well between now and Christmas it really takes some character to keep working at it.
To my mind we have now gone full circle to five years ago when McCarthy came in,deep in relegation trouble with large areas of the Club in disarray. The experiment to bring in a younger manager with new ideas was soon dead in the water due to a number of questionable decisions by Evans (or whoever sanctioned the release of McGoldrick etc),some of Hursts signings and tactical decisions,along with a fair dose of bad luck in terms of injuries and sendings off. I accept Hurst had to go,but Lambert doesn’t strike me as the man to take us forward long term and I’d have preferred him to have been offered a short term contract heavily incentivised to keep us up,whilst a better plan was properly researched/implemented for our future.
As it stands we currently find ourselves 3 points off 23rd and 7 points off 20th and we haven’t created anything in the first half. It may be that it would have been better to back Hurst instead and continue the momentum from the Swansea win. I didn’t lose any sleep over Hurst being sacked but if you’d told me the last couple of results were under the cloud of behind the scenes talks and that Lambert would be coming in, I’d have chosen to stick rather than twist.

According to the tabloids (which must often be taken with lorry load of salt), Hurst was fired over the telephone and Lambert has been promised a £10m transfer budget this January. Phil on TWTD appears to have confirmed Hurst was fired via phone call, which perfectly encapsulates our owner’s impersonal style of business. The £10m sounds more promising though, as it’s clear to most of us that this squad is in serious needs of investment and quality. The only question is, in this day and age, will £10m be enough?
I think it's too little, too late. Some of it is the Waghorn money that there wasn't time to spend, it's a shame he didn't do this in the summer then the whole story would be very different.
Lambert is a quality manager on a tight budget He’s terrible if he’s given money to spend Think he’ll do ok for you, I understand the concern but you’re exactly the sort of club in terms of stature and suffering that he excels with
Lots of negativity toward the squad we have here, which is understandable given our league position (and the most recent performances) Though are we any worse off then in recent seasons. In Defence: We have a pretty similar back 5 to pick from.. And I wouldn't say that Pennington is a downgrade on Webster (in my opinion) so whilst we showed some defensive vulnerabilities on occasion last season, the terrifyingly frequent blunders this season can be reduced with a bit of simple organisation. In Midfield: Edwards has taken on the role Celina played (as our only 'skillful' midfielder), but is so far playing more regularly. The biggest loss is Connolly who occupied the role of 'box to box' midfielder though Chalobah and Downes could occupy if asked to.. In fact adding in Nolan, Dozzell and potentially Huws/Bishop we have far more options across midfield than we have done in years. Certainly a more dynamic group for a manager to pick a couple of systems to work with In Attack: We have completely **** the bed. I suppose I wanted to point out that man for man we aren't any worse off than last season across the majority of the squad. Defensive has been dreadful in recent weeks, but our players have proven they can be effective over a large number of games so can be so again. Midfield has lacked balance all season, but has plenty more options than we had last year so with more organisation and a system that works we shouldn't be too downbeat of our situation Up front is where we are scraping the barrel clearly, but maybe it is an opportunity for someone to stand up and contribute (until January at least)
