Re Wes - biased in the sense that you think he is a good player?

    Arsenal will beat Palace <ok>

Bit early to be relying on other teams results, it's only November. I'm still hoping we can win an actual game of football ourselves at some point; maybe even this year.

    Shambles, absolute shambles.
What on Earth the scouts saw in Ely I will never know, I think we’d have been better off giving some youngsters a run.
We are an absolutely horrendous team now, I don’t enjoy watching us

Yeah I am more persuaded about this now. Although the strikers still have to take responsiblity for getting in good positions.

What confuses me is we must be taking so many long passes-to-their-goalkeeper on purpose. But Hughes knows that they hardly ever go in against packed defences, because he said so when Maguire scored one against us. So why do we still do it?

Fair enough, in that case I’d agree. Think I’d rather SG over Austin atm.

Yes. Probably the best CB we have (with the caveat that I've only seen Vestegaard in a handful of games).

Very calm, composed and cultured on the ball (not to the same level as Virgil though, naturally). Doesn't strike fear into me, like our other CBs. Is capable of making a great sliding tackle. Just really, really needs to learn to cut out the brain farts. But if he does, there's a top class CB in there - which I just don't see with any of the others.

You’re describing Yoshida, who has better skills, a better football brain, and better pace than Wesley, and who has actually cut out the brain farts already.

Ok cool me too. All the CB criticising felt overdone anyway because expecting them to have perfect games to make up for scoring nil goals is not going to work.

    A game of opinions.

Fortunately from my point of view, Hughes seemingly agrees with me.

Which is some kind of endorsement, I’ll give you, especially as we’re doing so well!

There is a very good player in hoedt and he could be exceptional if he cut out the mistakes.

Like him as a player and for his recognition of the supporters, stayed on the pitch and giving his shirt to a kid after the game nice touch.

Would like to like him more for his ability. He can make amazing tackles/interceptions only to let himself down with a clanger. The clanger usually gets punished with a goal.

All I know is that Wes and Jack have got the shirt and are not letting anybody down atm, they both have my backing on the pitch (always) and off of it (for now).

He's only 24. His best years are still very much ahead of him. I'd be a lot more worried if he was making these mistakes at 28.

(And it's not Wes' fault that in matches against Burnley, Palace, Newcastle and Bmouth, we scored a grand total of two goals. Although we did keep clean sheets in all those four...)

I think Kreuger should go as well. Its incredible some of the things he says. To say to the fans in a public presentation that we aren't a big club, was just incompetent. We know we aren't Man City or United, but we do want to believe that we have some ambition. Its was alomost a Ratneresque statement. It creates such a malaise negative feelings towards the club. Its also hardly going to help current players or those we might be interested in.

Agree and I think one of the problems for Wes is that his errors have cost us points. John stone's who is equally proned to errors gets away with it as City still tend to win.

I won’t judge Wes and Jack against this Newcastle attack, just like I won’t judge them next week against City (unless they are excellent and we draw 0-0).

Yes, but he should be there ahead of at least one of them. Can't be any worse and the current lot have had 2 and a half years worth of chances now.

My point was that if he was lemina for example, he's have played so we can't use the injured card for Gallagher.
