Morning all. Foggy and cold here. Splendid day out yesterday with my granddaughters, but did my feet ache due to the amount of walking done. France has one of the leading zoos in the world for helping to repopulate endangered species, but as the information showed it is of little use if man destroys their natural habitat. Deforestation is a huge problem, much of it illegal, but governments in some countries do not have the resources to counteract it. As in the human world so much is interconnected, and cooperation between us and nature is vital if we want to maintain a balance.
Yes, by the way you can have a days 'New Elephant Keeper Experience' only £250. I still remember having a ride on an elephant at Whipsnade, (or was it London Zoo?), back in the 50's, not sure Health and Safety would allow it now. It did seem awfully high up at the time.
Thanks SH - my little niece was very annoyed that there weren''t any in Regents Park in the summer so may well get up to Whipsnade instead.
Just ordered two tickets fro the fourth day of the ashes test at Headingley... I hope we wont have won by the fourth day!
May festoons of sculptulous luck travel with you. Enjoy and may your quest be fully fulfilled with successfulness. Well it is just one of those types of day
Morning all, looks as if we had a few spots of rain overnight, and the temperature has dropped further. Looks as if the heating might have to go on shortly, but I did have to put it on at the beginning of October last year. Think I will collect the remaining tomatoes and bring them in before they have a frost on them.
A splendid last piece from Oli in the Watford Observer. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...ewell-to-journalism-after-58-memorable-years/ I used to watch him wend his way through the old main stand to his perch in the press box, and wait until the following Friday to see if he watched the same game that I had. Long before instant news of course, so none of the speculation that forms the basis for football forums. You had to wait, and wonder if players were injured, or had they been sold, did the club have a replacement lined up to compensate for a departure. How did the manager cope with the latest financial meltdown, lots of things to wonder about for the best part of a week until Friday arrived, and Oli would bring you up to date. I often thought what a wonderful job he had, although a wet February night in Scunthorpe or other remote crumbling ground, with a cup of Bovril and a sandwich did make me think twice. He was the conduit between fans and club for many years, and I will always thank him for that. His players in this final piece to choose your great team are all ones that I have seen, even going back to Frank Mitchell and Cliff Holton. Not a bad selection there, although just how some would have found life in the current PL is open to speculation. I hope he enjoys his retirement out here, he seems to judging by his more recent articles. He has been as much a part of my WFC life as many who have been employed at the club, and I hope that at some time the management will show that they understand how much he loved and supported Watford.
Massive game for the Canaries today so good luck Dave An 8-0 win could put them top but more realistically a win would root them well and truely in the play-off zone. C'mon u'canaries
