please log in to view this image Monday 29th October 8pm Premier League Wembley Stadium Our European campaign is on it's last legs, so some domestic success would do wonders for morale. Given that, it's probably not the best time to be playing Abu Dhabi's finest. The surface of the stadium is probably not going to be at it's best, either. A trip back to the Olympic Stadium comes just two days later and things are piling up. Can we do the unexpected and turn over the champions, who are currently unbeaten in the league? City have started the season in much the same way that they played the last one. Guardiola fixed his fullback issue, dominated the league and took the League Cup for good measure. His only problem seemed to be beating Liverpool and that doesn't appear to have changed. A fairly low-key transfer window saw few changes and the only big name brought in was Riyad Mahrez. That's still a £60m signing, but they appear to have gone for stability this time out. One notable transfer out was Jason Denayer, the Belgian international centre-half. He never managed a first team appearance for City in his five years at the club, but had a number of successful loans. They were enough to interest Lyon, who spent €6.5m to secure his services. This resulted in his first game at the Etihad, as they were drawn together in the Champions League. His first appearance became his first win, as Lyon surprised everyone and beat the hosts 2-1. Is there anything that we can learn from this win or from City's other, rare stumbles? A counter-attacking system was used and Lyon pressed consistently when in their own half. It's certainly not our normal game and it would be a surprise to see it attempted. Pochettino did spring something similar against Real last year though, so who knows? Last season's match at Wembley was one to forget, despite facing a City side in relatively poor form. They'd blown winning the title at Old Trafford, losing to Utd and followed that up with crashing out of Europe. Liverpool beat them home and away in the Champions League and some thought it could upset their form. Nothing could've been further from the truth, as they started well and largely continued it for much of the game. An Eriksen goal caused some nerves, but their win was rarely in doubt: The reverse fixture was an even worse one and probably the poorest performance of the campaign. A poor start and some awful challenges from both sides resulted in City taking an early lead. Gundogan's goal was the only difference on the scoreboard until late on, though there was only one side in it. De Bruyne and a Sterling double put a more realistic look to things, before Eriksen got a consolation at the death: Dele Alli is available for selection, so only Vertonghen and Rose are still out. Gundogan, Danilo and Bravo are out for City. Neither side has any suspensions. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Trippier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Davies; Sissoko, Dier, Winks; Lamela, Kane, Moura. Subs: Gazzaniga, Aurier, Walker-Peters, Dembele, Eriksen, Son, Llorente. League form: LLWWWW. City: Ederson; Stones, Kompany, Laporte, Mendy; Silva, Fernandinho, D Silva; Mahrez, Aguero, Sane. Subs: Muric, Otamendi, Zinchenko, De Bruyne, Sterling, Foden, Jesus. League form: WWWWDW. Referee: Kevin Friend. TV: Sky Sports. Despite the result against PSV, our performance was largely decent. Would you change much for this match? Should we alter our approach, system and personnel or go with something similar? Should Alli return to the starting XI or be eased back into things, following his injury?
Headline. City's visit at a terrible time for fragile Tottenham.Well! Will we be fragile? Will it be Custer's last stand or the Charge of the Light Brigade? COYS! We've heard it before, but this really is a win or bust game!
Dele being back is a huge boost, doubt he'll start but we've missed him. I'd love to see Gazza reinstated but we all know it won't happen. Would also give Aurier the start over Tripps, he's fresher and last season Tripps struggled in both games against City. Hopefully Lucas and Lamela start, been our two brightest players so far.
Wow! It's O. Spurcat. Know it will never happen but line up with a speedy front three and a false whatever: Lloris Trippier, Dier, Sanchez, Toby, Davies Winks, Dembele, Moura, Lamela, Son
Well that line up is consistent with your 0-2 prediction... How about all out attack with Lloris Trippier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Walker-Peters Dier Lucas, Erksen, Lamela, Son Kane
What're the odds we get a repeat of this - and the usual selective myopia from the pundits when it happens?
Or a penalty that's not a penalty and a sending off like with Rose or Walker a few years back at the lane...or a penalty when it should be a free kick cos it wasn't in the box or (in fairness to City) a player (Stirling) tries to stay on his feet when blatantly pushed and the ref fails to give the penalty cos he didn't go down...imho I think that's why he goes down at the slightest touch nowadays.
Don't forget Fazio was sent off at their place for "holding" someone in the box before a cross came in. I think later that season Azpilicueta did exactly the same to Lamella and there were no consequences at all (other than Lamella not being there when the cross came in).
I`m expecting a bending with our seemingly dodgy defence and iffy playing around at the back, but you never know, we are due a result against them.
With that American thing at Wembley today....will they screw up the pitch and leave stupid lines from a stupid game for Monday's game? (I hate that gridiron thing.Sorry America!)
