Is that his fault?? Or even relevant? He’s been booked 7 times. I saw 5 fouls the other night worse than his yellow. None of them carried a card. Who have you seen better in his position in this league? Certainly none in our games

It is relevant to whether we should be looking to move him on in January. If we can get 4 players at a similar level for the same combined wage then it makes sense to let him go.

Regarding the second goal, I thought it was his man that he watched just run past him onto the through ball, but I could be wrong.

I'd argue Power is a better centre mid (when he has his head screwed on), although admittedly they play a different role within the position. But I don't think the difference between Power/Catts and Power/McGeogh would be too noticeable..

He has some good insights when he's not shoehorning some American player or team into the conversation (sometimes to a frankly bizarre extent)!

We all have our biases mate. Hefty's tend to stand out for obvious reasons but that doesn't make them any less valid than say me and Marcus bigging up Catts last few seasons (Marcus is on his own there now <whistle>).

Hefty made some good points there to me. And I like it that he gives us a different perspective.

Not arguing his wage could be better spent. But the point is of no relevance to the argument. As I say, not his fault he’s on such a huge wage for the league. The issue we’ll have “letting” him go is just that. He won’t get that wage anywhere else! He’ll still be here at the end of the season imo.

It probably was his man. But he was never catching him as he’s not quick enough. Not his fault. His only option was to bring him down and get sent off or let him run and, if they score, hope we can do what we have before. Flanagan (as much as I like him) over committed and put the defence under pressure. Left a massive gap to run into. I think you’re right in the Power thing but in the same role McGeouch has so far been left wanting. Gutted as I had high hopes for him. Cattermole and O’Nien would be my preferred pair *until power is back)

I’ve been very critical of Cattermole last 3 seasons as he’s been utter gash!! But he’s looked every bit above thus level all season. The Shrewsbury highlights saw him pick a 40 yard pass for Sinclair then almost sticking the ball in the net when Sinclair crossed it. He made one mistake last night with a very poor pass. McGeouch did the same a couple of times but was never punished as his defence helped him. Keeper helped Cattermole.

It is interesting to hear that Ross had Ethan Robson down to start at the beginning of the season, until injury ruled him out. I think both Power and Robson are capable of replacing Catts now, and it will be interesting to see what happens when his next ban comes around it cant be far away. He has been OK so far this season , he has also been lucky not to see red, but sooner or later he will. His value to the team is grossly over-rated, and hopefully he will depart in the next window, that is if anyone is daft enough to take him off our hands.

That, to me, is an absolute load of bollocks :emoticon-0136-giggl

Catts has been undoubtedly our best midfielder this season, he's had the plaudits because of it, and most of his cautions have been unlucky at least (never mind him being 'lucky not to see red' <doh>), but very probably because of his name and historical reputation, and the arsehole referees seeking attention.

I can only assume that you're winding us up, Clocky, and if so I've been hooked :emoticon-0112-wonde

When has he been lucky not to see red? As GA says. He’s not been”ok” he’s been our best midfielder. Power should be replacing McGeouch who has been decidedly average.

You could make a case for Catts being our best midfielder but I don't think there's much in it. Power looks a better player to me and McGeough is improving although he's not there yet. It'd be interesting to see what story the stats tell on that one.

Bottom line anyway is that if we get an offer for him and he agrees terms then he's gone, I think we're desperate to get the legacy high earners off the books. Personally, as much as I've enjoyed his goals and seeing him back to his old self, with the players we've got and if we sign another CM like Kamara, I don't think we'll miss him.

I like Power - but he's missed 7 of our first 20 games! Have to say his first red was extremely harsh but his second was sheer stupidity - had Cattermole done either of those he'd have been lambasted by a lot of our fans. - few would want him playing for us again regardless of how well he'd played I agree Power has been very good when he's played. Him and Cattermole look by far the best pairing - I just can;t make a case for any of the others up to now.

That said - I agree completely that, if we get a suitable offer and he can agree terms, he'll be gone. We need his wage as he's paid around the same as 6 or 7 of the others put together! I actually think the club will allow him to move for free - he's a negative asset IMO - regardless of how well I think he's played, costing £40k (I think) a week is a massive drain in this league

Aye it's a shame that as he's found form again we have to move him on but like you say his wages (and Oviedo's) are too much for this league. We're still not sustainable at this level and possibly not in the championship either so it has to be done unfortunately.

I'm starting to forget how good Power is because of all the suspensions but you can only really blame him for the second red and I'd be amazed if he hasn't learnt a lesson from it, Ross won't have been pleased. Hopefully we can do some business in January and sign a machine to go alongside Power.

Catts and power best midfield partnership we have atm.

Most of Catts yellow cards have been harsh, same as powers first red. Mcgeough hasn't impressed,, but has been better last couple of games.

Catts should be sold if the right offer comes in, same as for oviedo. But purely because of the money they're on, not their performances. If we do have both of them next season and if we get promoted, both will be decent options in the championship. (provided they keep up current form under Ross)

I'd let both go for free, personally. Their wages are crippling.

Yes Catts has been decent, but I think we have enough cover there that I think we'd be fine if he left.

Oviedo lost his place to Hume anyway, and James looks an able deputy. He simply isn't needed.

100% agreeement, the only problem is getting shot, especially Catts, watch the highlights on this very thread, every time he is involved our goal is threatened, he cant play football, his only contribution is aggression and he cant even play this role with any intelligence, hence all the bookings, every referee cant be wrong, even his most blinkered supporters cant really believe that and must doubt the argument even as they repeat it. Oviedo is a luxury we can ill afford and should also be moved on asp.
