Are we sure that this is a good idea?

Some people would deal with it sensibly <ok> ….. and then there's Elf <yikes> …. Do you really want Elf swigging beer next to you all game?

    <cheers>

    Yes, long overdue.

I grew up in a footballing era where violence and alcohol at football matches were inextricably linked.

    Enough of this guacamole rubbish.

Didn't the authorities recently ban (or cut back on) drinking at some race courses because people were getting drunk and violent?

Until the link between drink and violence is broken, I think drinking in the stands at football matches is not a good idea.
Fans are already emotionally charged up a lot of the time, and fans in big groups feed off each other's aggression. Fresh dutch courage will lead to more trouble.

I read somewhere that 70% of people who attend Accident & Emergency centres at weekends are hurt while they are drunk. Those won't all be down to violence rather than clumsiness, but a majority will be down to people who get drunk and then get violent.

Coupled with you would be up and down in your seat every five minutes people going out to get a drink.

Coupled with that you would be up and down in your seat evert two minutes emptying your small thimble-sized bladder.

Fans getting up all the time to get more drinks or to empty their bladders would be another annoying factor, albeit less serious perhaps than the drink-fuelled bad behaviour or trouble.
Other supporters having to get past where you are sitting during the game is a nuisance, though almost a forgotten one in large parts of the Valley due to it being so empty.

On a serious note @lardiman , Elfs is a good example of why drinking beer in grounds should remain banned.

@Clb74 will confirm that @baraettmattesvensson becomes an extremely annoying and vocal pest when drunk*

[*Edit - when sober as well]

It is a problem I do concede.

Fortunately I have never p***** myself before, a miracle in itself.

Whenever I see the great man I think of the time he kung fu'd the palice knob.

Drinking from this always makes the sherbet go down easier than normal.

fans can't even drink soft drinks without throwing the bottles at players or shouting racist remarks, in my honest view clubs should be banned from selling alcohol within grounds..... after all ….. what's wrong with a nice plastic cup of Bovril anyway?

    Never liked Bovril.

Have always been partial to a coffee in the ground, price permitting.
