    Really matter?

If it was a level playing field, say like a draft (ala yanks style), would it be a case of it;s down to the manger, decision.tactics etc?

Obviously it doesn't as money counts..But if it did, level playing field, just who is the best manager. Tactics, motivation, man management etc?

Obviosly the best 2 of latter times have now retired in SAF and Wenger, so who prevails now?

Think its less about tactics and more about player motivation. Players should be smart enough to understand how to adapt to changes required in any particular game situation. However if they arent fully motivated to play for the manager its not going to go well.
Reckon both Arsenal and Chelsea have got the right guys in and also think Klopp would be a great manager to play for.

The game and tactics is a lot more complicated than we think imo, players won't be able to adapt themselves and modern managers do earn their wage setting a team up and then adapting to the opposition.

Agreed, a good manager will see an opposing teams strenghs and attempt to nullify them. It must be difficult setting up teams to play against the vast variety of styles that opposing teams play.

The best managers imo are the ones who are quickly able to communicate to their players exactly what is expected of them. Some players will obviously be unable to do what is asked, and others may be unwilling, which then brings a new set of problems, but it all starts with a shared vision of how the game should be played.

Pochettino and Guardiola are both able to do this, probably Klopp as well tbf, while the way Sarri has hit the ground running at Chelsea suggests he may be in a similar category.

The resources available to Pochettino compared to the others, and his willingness when he first went to Spurs to drop a few big name Charlies in favour of untried players willing to buy into his vision, make him head and shoulders the best manager in the PL.

He does have one potentially fatal flaw though, that could lead to him quickly becoming a dinosaur in the manner of Mourinho - his very clear idea of how he wants the game to be played, may just be his only idea.

I'd say his biggest flaw is that he has never won a competition in his managerial career.
I am pretty sure the best managers win trophies, since that is what they are employed to do.

You cannot be the best Formula 1 Driver in the world if you have never won a race.

Of course you can, if you are driving a go cart when everyone else is in a Maclaren

Money wins trophies, I’d expect a Chelsea fan to know that

That would make that person a ******, which again, would rule them out from being the best.

Was trying to find the clip, but it reminds me of a line from Game Of Thrones....

If a guy lines up on a Formula 1 grid in a golf cart, I dont just disagree with his choice of car, but his choice of profession, and his choice to breathe.

    Dont be a ****** :p

Back to my point tho, yes you need to win titles to be the best.
A boxer who has never held a major belt cannot be considered the best.

Sometimes managers do well at smaller clubs but then fail to take the step up at a big club.
Look at Moyes, great at Everton, but epic fail at Man Yoo.
Poch could be great at Spurs, but do terrible at Real or Man Yoo (Am convinced he will go to one of those clubs eventually).

If the golf cart was the only seat available on an F1 grid someone would spend good money to get the chance to race it, you've obviously never heard of Andrea Moda, or Mastercard Lola. (the golf cart would probably have beaten both, pretty sure one could get around Monaco in less than 17 minutes.)

So in Poch's time in charge, none of the main trophies at all that he could have won (PL, FAC, LC, CL, EL) have been won by any team other than those with huge financial resources???
