    Just think back.
It's only a few months ago that our Friends to the North were having a good laugh at our expense.
And that was fair enough because if the situation had been reversed, that's what we would have done.

But contrast how our respective fanbases are feeling just now.

It makes you think. (Well it makes me think - and smile:emoticon-0102-bigsm)

Catts at fault for both of those one-on-ones. I like him and think he's done well this season but he's not exactly showing himself to be "above this level". Really hope we can move him on in Jan to free up some of his massive wage bill. We have plenty of cover in that area anyways, imo.

Word for word copy of my mag mate's post on FB at the weekend:

"Newcastle are actually ****e, and before you mackems comment , we are not 2 leagues below , so we are playing premier league teams not 3rd division teams."

I was out with him on Saturday - his exact words were "You lot are ****e and we're ****e" when I said "We're not ****e, we're doing pretty well really" and his reply was "You're in the 3rd division man" - regardless of the fact that our players (majority of them) earn 1 tenth of the Newcastle players!

I'd certainly rather be enjoying watching this than going to the match every week looking for a scapegoat like they are

Can;t see how it's Catts fault the QE2 and Titanic were left space to sail side by side between our last line of defence on the second one! Only thing he could've done was taken the lad who ran past him down - he isn't quick enough to have caught him and he was already on a yellow so not sure what you expect him to do. 1st one was obviously his fault as it was a poor pass - but think he's been our best central midfielder by a country mile this season. One of the best in the league imo. We have "cover" but I'm yet to see anyone in that position play better than him and he leads the team when he's playing

Catts has found his level, he has always been a liability imo, but he is at least trying to earn some of his money these days, and your Mag mate was right in what he said about the levels of opposition that's an obvious, but I, like you are enjoying see us win a few games, but don't fool yourself, there are still two leagues and some distance between the teams.

This Premier League v Division 1 .argument isn't quite as straight forward as it looks.
We are in this division because we deserve to be there.
Years of mis management has got us here and all we can do is play what's put in front of and so far were doing a bit better than ok.
1 defeat in 14 takes some doing no matter what league your in, and what we have in front of us is a team mainly cobbled together quickly throughout the summer with a sprinkling of Academy kids and a brand new manager.
Having watched years of players not really trying we are experiencing watching a team who seem to be enjoying themselves and want to help each other when the going gets tough.
How many games have we come from behind to get a result, in the Premier league that rarely if ever happened.
As for Newcastle they are where they are currently because they deserve to be there, lack of investment and poor transfer dealings have finally caught up with them ( doesn't that sound familiar).
They are a Premiership team playing other Premiership clubs and not doing it very well, that doesn't mean both us and then are ****e.
What it does mean is that were coping in the league we are in and Newcastle are not doing the same in their league.
if we go up and they come down which at present could easily happen then if you were to pitch the current squads against each other then we're likely to continue our unbeaten run against them.
Ross is getting more out of his players than Rafa is with his and that is a simple truth.
Will it alter the Geordie mentality that's it's always somebody else's fault, I don't think so.W
As for us a third of the season gone and were in a good spot and we can look forward to the possibility of an immediate promotion not sure what Newcastle can look forward to other than relegation.
    It's all about opinions.

Wouldn't you expect that from a team that's just dropped 2 divisions compared to a team with apparently one of the best managers in the world with a squad on more than double the wage of the other

I really enjoyed yesterday's game. I don't think we have to wait for this squad to gel anymore. The passing was excellent. So many intricate passes within tight triangles. And despite the physical nature of the game, when players couldn't win the ball or the challenge outright, they always seemed to nudge the ball to a teammate. And the game was so wonderfully physical. No one backed down, they looked like a band of brothers. Who's next?!!
