The Newmarket grapevine has it 99% certain that Cracksman is going to Darley next year, just final details being hammered out. Also rumours that the old rogue Eminent is off to join the National Stud roster.
As I mention elsewhere Ginistrelli was the most attractive horse on show at Newmarket's 2yo day. If he lives up to his looks he'll be a good colt next year.
JUYUSH (Frankel x Faithfully) was sold today at Goffs for £30,000, he was owned by H Al Maktoum trained by F. Head and gelded in September. Some you win some you lose.
Some you win a lot, some you lose a lot. That is the big risk with highly priced stud fees. I'll be going for a low cost (very low) but then I won't be trying to get a Classic winner. A decent hurdler would do me fine
Two more winners this afternoon with OUTBOX and THE GRAND VISIR both obliging. Two more runners today, HURCULEAN and RISE HALL, both go in the 4.45 at Doncaster.
Disappointing run for Herculean in handicap company. King Power lost out by a nose, Frankel's most expensive yearling at £2.5 million guineas. The Grand Visir is up for sale next week, 3 out of 3 for Outbox
Sad loss to racing with the death of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, he was a Frankel supporter, thoughts are with everyone in involved.
It’s the Horses in Training Sale this week. 18 sons and 1 daughter of Frankel were catalogued though 9 (including the sole filly) have since been withdrawn. Most notably so far, THE GRAND VISIR sold to Gordon Elliot for 170,000gns and ZABRISKIE to Luke Comer for 58,000. The Juddmonte draft sells later today and 3 sons of Frankel are offered: GUILD, HAINAUT and MIDI
GUILD sold for 55,000gns, MIDI sold for 65,000gns both to Luke Comer, HAINAUT sold for 10,000gns. PRINCE IMPERIAL is a full brother the CONTINGENT who sadly was lost having won her only race at 2 with the likes of Forever Together and Magic Wand trailing in her wake. Lets hope he fairs better.
Midi sounds like a good buy. Whatever it does I would have thought £4,000 stud fee would be popular. 20 mares gives a profit. I will definitely be interested at that price; ties in a treat with our mare. Must ask Bustino what he thinks when the time comes. My mouth is watering at the prospect
The 2018 Return of Mares has hit my desk this morning. I’ll get some pictures of Frankel’s book and post them here. If anyone wants book details for any other British/Irish stallions do shout.
Just noticed on further inspection that Midi had a wind op at just 20months old. Not sure what to think of that from a breeding viewpoint. Still, a few years yet before having to think too hard
