Bowyer came in last season and gave us a bounce... who is going to do that this season when we are 12th in mid Feb. ?

I think the answer is obvious...Jackson.

Agree - it was a dead cat bounce.

We are 12 points off the top and 12 points off the bottom.

You would have to be deluded to think we will go up outright.

That being said, I don't think Bowyer is to blame. But he should be doing better.

Bowyer has a decent squad to work with, actually look at the players he has , it’s a good side, last night too many players had off games.
Bowyer needs to work out why it didn’t click , Oxford came to spoil but many teams will and he needs to find a way of overcoming that.
As for atmosphere I was talking to a fan who was at his first home game for a while and he was amazed how good it was.
Sitting in the lower west bitching about it so predictable.. in the upper north trust me it’s good , I am there singing every week and the drummers and majority up there are giving it their all, but hey have a moan up, while sitting there scratching your balls .
we all want a change of owner but banging on about anything and everything you can think to bitch about just drains me.
This side is on the whole enjoyable to watch with players that do give their all, that’s why I go watch my side, that’s why I will keep singing and you can keep moaning , glad I am not you

Some good comments, but it makes me laugh when some people say the atmosphere at the Valley is good this season <laugh>

Context - you have 300 blokes doing their best in the Upper CE, and 20,000 empty seats.

It’s the equivalent of someone farting at a wake.

Often farts in quiet places have the most impact, I am a volume man when it comes to anus applause, I come from a long line of true Fartists, so know my onions about this subject
All I can really say is in the upper north it’s a positive atmosphere much better than years ago just shouting.. “Red army “ or the occasional stupid Adams family rubbish .
The fans there all want to be there and are pulling together to make a decent atmosphere, been going to Charlton since the late 70’s and it’s certainly better than most of those years, I happen to think the Prem years were pretty soulless, but maybe I like my women dirty

The best atmosphere is at the away games under cover - you see all of the North Upper lads there with the drummer, plus a lot of faces who go for the day out in the 20-30 age range. Portsmouth away last season was the best, Rochdale and Southend [this season] both very decent as well. What is the point of keeping the East Stand open these days - the fans are dotted around it like pigeon droppings, and the Exec Boxes are empty.

I agree away is excellent lately I was at Portsmouth and Southend, just think fans want to be positive and support not moan , we have all done enough of that over the years
I also think close north upper put everyone lower north

I don't see anything to be positive about while this scumbag remains.

The best players will go again & it looks increasingly like Bowyer is hitting the same brick wall as his predecessors.

That may be true but I think a lot of fans are looking at the now , the team is easy to like in the main play attractive football and we have bowyer and jacko at the helm , I can only truly express my opinion but I am enjoying this season , ok results wise we have let slip lots of points but I agree with Bowyer we are capable of putting a long unbeaten run going .
I think it could be a very exciting season or I could just not go and take up the narrative of everything is **** and become a miserable sod

Fans who are content watching a squad of free transfers, crocks and loanees and youngsters for sale trying to squeak into 6th place in he 3rd division give an open ended blessing to Duchatelet to carry on behaving exactly the same; cutting costs and not investing anything in the first team.

If you don't mind that things will never get better under this owner, then fair play to you.
    Some of us do mind.

Yeah they are all crocks !! What a ridiculous statement, are you really reading what you write , you are in a negative pit and you just seem to get off on wallowing in there
Taylor , Bielik, Ward , Cullen are all good additions , and as for the youngsters isn’t it great we are blooding are own players , just like the old days of Rob Lee the masterful Brazilian Carlos leaburno.
You have got lost in your own labourous negative waffle

Another 'meh' result against an average to poor side at home. I think part of the problem is that we still think we have a great squad and manager who can get us up. The reality is the squad are mid table - they can sparkle on a good day, and fade like the mist on a bad one. The manager is doing his best, but he is new and is making some naive mistakes. The result is we are mid table. Pulled off seems to feel we shouldn't comment on that and just keep muttering 'everything is awesome' like the toys in the Lego Movie. Sadly we have potential to do better than we are. But the owner has us up for sale at a daft price so we are not likely to be bought except by another drooling idiot. So investment remains ata minimum and we remain mid table. Crowds are down. Not really because of boycots, but a lot of fans have simply drifted away. This Charlton side may be pleasing to the eye (I've had little sense of that from those who went last night) but it's a bit sporadic and the overall impression is we got a typical result last night - a home draw against equally average opposition. The blip may well have been the Barnsley win, but the chances are they are two sides of the same coin. The anger comes from hope we could be doing better. Not much chance of that as things stand.

Yeah that’s it I constantly say “everything is awesome “ I expressed my opinion that my feeling is I am making the best of it and actually think some of our play is decent , I am not saying Bowyer is not making mistakes either he has and I have voiced that .
Yes we need a new owner but until that happens I am going to try and support a side I have for over 40 years and trust me in that time I have seen much more crap than this.
Sorry but you won’t reduce me to being a miserable sod who just wants to focus on the negative, that’s not who I am

    Bielik is a crock.
    Ward is over the hill.
    Cullen is a loanee.
The youngsters will all be sold, Aribo first.

The moderator here seems to enjoy it when members hurl insults and abuse at each other, so by all means carry on the personal attacks.
I don't need to reply in kind, your own abuse belittles you more than it bothers me.

Bowyer has publicly stated that Jamie Ward is definitely going back to Forest in January, and that Cullen is highly likely to be recalled by West Ham then as well....

Of our best 4 performers so far this season, only one of them is actually our player....Taylor.

Honestly I just don’t agree with you that’s all nothing more

Its good to have different views on this site.

Personally I think we are only heading out of this league in one direction - downwards.

The crunch will come in January if this w anker is still owner then.

No one is trying to 'reduce you to being a miserable sod'. Like Royston, I think a different viewpoint is good on here as we mostly all look the same way. However, you don't seem to like other viewpoints either - you basically told Lardi to stop posting negative stuff, which is just another part of the same thing. You'll find everyone on here is a Charlton fan, so we tend to be happy with wins, and less so when things go the other way. But away from the simple results stuff, there has been a constant downward spiral in league position, attendances and squad strength so simply trying to support the side and ignoring results like Scunthorpe, Coventry or Oxford isn't going to happen. It's a forum, and so you have every right to say you think the season is going well, but other people can argue the point too.

@lardiman has got his own way of posting but his point is a valid one IMO - the decline at the club is incremental and remorseless under this owner.

It makes me puke when I read certain posters elsewhere [ITTV] saying what a great experience they have at the Valley on match days...sad people....even the 1970s and 80s were better than this sh1t show.
