Oh, not to spoil the buzz we are all feeling but sooner or later we will need to have the Mikhy conversation. I really hope we don't have to, as I like the player.
To be honest with you, I think he shouldn't be in our starting 11. He'd be great in the Europa league and seems to perform well in that competition, but he isn't pulling his weight in the Prem. Apart from the Chelsea game, he's been very ineffective this season. Not only does he struggle to track back/support Bellerin, he keeps drifting in field and taking up central positions, which congests the middle of the park and we then lose a dimension to our attack. I don't know if age is catching up with him, but he doesn't look like half the player he was at Dortmund. And had Sanchez not been such a huge flop for United, we would be complaining about Micky a lot more than we have been. For Leicester's opener, it was Lacazette that was sprinting back to keep up with Chilwell. But it shouldn't have been. Micky should have been on that side, but he was at the other end of the pitch, which left loads of space open on our right hand side. He isn't positionally disciplined. Let him play in the Europa and the League Cup matches by all means. But not in the Prem.
Something is not clicking. I don't get the vibe that he is happy. I hardly see him in the training videos and his body language seems off. He could be going through off the pitch issues.
He has always been a very streaky player. His International duties are also pretty intense. He played two full games over the break, and in the second one he was man of the match by a mile. Wouldn't surprise me if he was mentally tired, if not physically tired.
I really hope he kicks in to gear for us. Cos having an in form Mikhi in the squad could be key to giving us that extra push. Ozil will have off days. So will Iwobi. His chemistry with Auba could be massive for us. His form worries me. Haven't felt like he's one of ours either. It's weird.
Its funny if you showed an unbiased fan the first 30 mins of this game and asked them if we are genuine title contenders for sure they would say no. If you just showed them the last 30 mins they would most likely say yes. In truth its somewhere in between. We still let the opposition get into good attacking positions far too easily but we are looking pretty deadly when going forward. Its good to hear Emery saying we still need work. He doesn't seem fully happy with our performances yet and that's a very good sign.
If spurs beat City and we win our next two then we'll probably be top... Edit. Doh. Getting ahead of myself there. Maybe not.
