Well if we did i fear the worst, Ayling puts a good shift in and his commitment is second to none, but if you watch him closely he gets caught out of position far too much.

I normally stay away from arguments on Twitter but I am in the middle of one with an idiot who is trying to defend this.

"No one is laughing at peadophiles, we are laughing at a man dressed as Jimmy Saville. Cant you tell the difference?" is the argument thrown at me.

The Blackburn match day thread pal. He has sent a message to Elland saying he is going to take a break from the forum, hoefully it won't be for too long.
Just looking at it from another point of view, he is asked to make runs forward and be a threat, if we lose the ball the idea is for Phillips to drop back and one of the CB's to cover his position. Does he make mistakes? Yes but he is a very good Championship player not a PL superstar

Saiz was crucified at the weekend yet his pass for the goal was top notch, at the start of last season and the end of the season before that I was pulling my hair out at Pablo and his poor passes, players go through spells where it just doesn't go right for them. If Ayling was to be dropped who would fill his position?

Isnt there a certain player at Fleetwood doing the business that may be a good replacement at RB if/when we need him?

Unfortunately this sums up the mentality of the youth of today (I am assuming it is someone of ******ed years as they seem to idolise and misuse what is termed as social media).

I noticed with Ayling against Brentford that he seemed not to cross the halfway line. Once he got there he looked for a pass and usually picked the wrong one. I asked at the time whether this was his instruction from Biesla as it seemed to blunt his impact on the game. We had looked best in previous games when he was bombing forward.

I have an idea, but would not call him a snowflake by any stretch of imagination.
Thing is you never know what is going on in someone's private life which may make them say Oh fck it.
Then again I could be completley wrong.

I'm hoping he gets a chance soon but this season he is contracted out on loan, I meant who from those available for selection ;)

This. Ayling’s distrubution has been poor of late but positionally... he’s acting to orders.

When we capitulated at the end of our season under monk, hernandez was the biggest waste of space in the side. It’s partly form and fitness but These guys struggle when they are the sole provider. Teams know where the threat is coming. They both look better when the other is on the pitch.

However poor saiz may have been overall, it was his pass that led to the goal, his pass that picked out klich that led to a great save

As you will see in my “Loan Watch” sticky above Coyle is one of a handful of loanees doing the business, in fact he is the most consistent week after week. Players player of the year last season and fans player of the year too. I was surprised he wasnt in Bielsas plans but Ayling and Berardi ahead of him. Will he be back next season? A step up from L1 & 2 to the Championship and indeed if we get to the Prem I cant see it

I totally agree, I have always said we are very finely balanced, the small cogs all working for the great of the team, if just one gets it wrong we might cope but more than one and we really struggle.

For me we have missed Roofe and his speed and movement up front, that creates panic for the opposition, they can't afford to give him a yard so he is able to pull people lefg right and center

Ayling tearing up and down the right and Douglas the left, it gives us an option for either side, Hernandez and his creativity, they were all missed. When we have a fully fit squad it doesn't matter what the opposition manager does to try and stifle us, we have too many options, man mark Hernandez we have Saiz, stick someone on Roofe and the attacking three suddenly have more space, stop Aylings runs we have Douglas, get all that right and we still have the threat of Klich

Douglas as well is our set piece taker, if not him Hernandez, we had both out so it fell to Alioski who isn't as good, hopefully against Ipswich we'll just be missing Douglas <ok>

Now I know who it is I agree he’s a good guy, probably a combination of things that’s made him take a break from here but no one had a go at specifically him for being over critical of the team

Yep. The players all look better when the others are giving them options. Our midfield players weren’t as bad as the whole team made them look in the last few years. Now they look like the strength of the side because there’s generally options. Bielsa preaching fluidity and movement has helped all of them loook better ( fitness has helped too, obviously). Not so much recently it has to be said, but let’s see how we look with those cogs back in place and fit.

I don’t know if anyone ever bothers with football stats. They can be misleading particularly when it’s algorithms that are rating players and teams in terms of actions etc. But if you were to look at squawka or whoscored, you’ll see that as well as dominating possession, shots on goal etc, we still rate as the dominant side in the division factoring all aspects (except points, the only one that really matters!!).

One thing I noticed is that although we do pretty well for shots inside the box, we also have a lot of shots from distance. Not surprising that our conversion rate is lower than some and some evidence that we are not creating as many clear chances as we’d like given our possession.

Sometimes I guess it could be stuff going on at home and the slightest thing that is trivial to the rest of us is just enough to send you over the top.

I'm not saying he has anything going on behind the scenes and I believe the post I linked to wasn't the main cause, just the tipping point. A bit of a break and hopefully he will return, this place is too addictive to stay away for too long ;)

Afternoon Doc, we have really missed Hernandez. I was so disappointed he did not start on Saturday. As you said he links up with Saiz really well, and let's be honest, they are our only creative influences (along with Klich).
