I would definitely play JWP instead of Mo. At least we will look dangerous from corners and free kicks next week
At the end of the day, the players need to perform, sounds like they did some more of that today, that’s good news. MH I guess will pick those who seem to gel on the training ground, hence Stephens not Maya today with Hoedt. I’m a Maya fan but MH is the manager, so he has to choose, don’t forget too that it’s a long season, opportunity enough for others to get established. This result will not do us any harm at all. Once the belief gets into the team psyche that ‘we can get a result today’ v ‘let’s keep things hopefully tight and maybe luck will help us, then points will come. At home though the atmosphere HAS to change, even at a goal or two down, supporters moaning all the time have a real negative effect. Let’s all now beat Newcastle on and off the field!!!
He was alright. A bit anonymous, yeah. But not bad. Had one nice pass that I can think of. He gave us a bit of width and support and I think occupied some space to keep Bournemouth in check. He'll have to get better but new team and new league. All things considered, I think he has been okay. Needs maybe 5-10 more games. If he still isn't showing anything then I will be more concerned. Also, he should be on the left and Redmond on the right. If we are going to play old school 4-4-2, let the eingers play like old school eingers. Redmond has surprised me by showing off me rather nice crossing skills but he doesn't get to use it on the left when he is cutting inside (and getting nowhere) so much. What else can we do? We tried the JWP on the right, Redmond on the left thing last year and it sucked.
I remember Mane being slagged off when he came here in his first 10-15 games...........he didn't turn out bad, I am all for giving Mo more time.
I'm not writing him off at all, but he needs to get involved in creating a lot more than he has done, we need more than a player that just can hold his position and keep the oppo in check (he'd be a perfect Pellegrino player!). Say what you like about Boufal, but he was always brave and tried to make things happen offensively.
I think Mo will come good, agree about Boufal but sadly he liked to have a strop and that effected him........secretly I wish we hadn't loaned him out.
I thought he was involved in the first half, but never heard his name mentioned in the second, and I had to check to make sure he wasn't subbed and I missed it.
I quite like the look of Mo when he's on the ball, but he does appear to go absent at times and his final pass / cross is way off Premiership standard. But he's young and needs game time to improve.
We expect too much too soon from new players. I always say the same two words on this subject: Robert Pires
A popular view. But let’s remember that last year we weren’t even getting the ball to the strikers so we are moving in the right direction!!!!
Many fans thought (and said) we were a dead cert to lose this match...so surely they must see this as a decent result. I'm cursing that we couldn't somehow get the ball over the line, but I'd have cursed even more if Bournemouth had. So this is a victory in my book and I'm going into the Newcastle game whistling a happy tune to show I'm not afraid.
