    According to the sun:

QPR's new owner Tony Fernandes is planning a swoop for David Beckham.

The Malaysian tycoon reckons it will help Becks' Olympic dream and wants him at Loftus Road as soon as his MLS season ends with LA Galaxy.

He believes the ex-England captain will be tempted by the promise of regular first-team football in the run-up to the London extravaganza.

Beckham, now 36, has made no secret of the fact he wants to play in the 2012 Games.

Fernandes knows Becks will not come cheap but believes shirt sales and other merchandising will more than cover the cost of bringing him to West London.

The player's Galaxy deal expires at the end of the season.

He has been offered a new one but, so far, has not committed himself.

A Rangers insider said: "Tony promised Neil Warnock plenty of support in the transfer market and proved that in the recent window.

"But bringing Beckham back to England next month would top the lot — and it's not a pipe-dream."

i wouldnt rate him as a player anymore but he would make the club money and raise the profile of the club and maybe make it easier to sign quality players in the future?

Would certainly raise our profile, but maybe just a couple of years too late

    Imagine..............

QPR 3-0 up v Chelsea with 10 minutes to go......

Beckham warming up on the touchline, then Sir Neil putting his arm
around Beckhams shoulders, whispering instructions, just before he
    makes his QPR debut.....

    You'd absolutley love it!

Publicity stunt - whether he comes or doesn't.

Fernandes can't promise anyone "regular first team football", that's down to Warnock, and Warnock ain't stupid.

Five minutes to go and a double change. Gazza puts his pint down under a seat in the dugout, neatly placing a beermat on top, and staggers towards the touchline. The crowd are going wild, Gazza thinks it's for him, but no!

Oh, this has to be a master stroke by Warnock. It's Stan Bowles! He's bringing his pint on with him! What a legend!

Becks would definately lift our profile and maybe entice other quality players in.He maybe a bit long in the tooth but the guy oozes class and could still do a job.

I wouldn't knock it, Beckham has a lot to offer behind the scenes, Redknapp said he was a terrific presence when he was with Spurs last season and as an impact sub late in a game he'd be worth a go. He'd bring some of the Man Utd winning mentality with him that would be no bad thing and merchandise and raising our profile would certainly help. It's not as though he is going to be an integral part of the team. I think the positives, particularly publicity-wise, outweigh the negatives.

This reminds me of the time Edgar Davids moved to Crystal Palace, some things should never happen.

Bit bizarre, but excellent marketing move for Asia... also he was good enough for AC Milan in 2010, now Serie A champions, and a lot of people on here think Traore's handful of performances in a weak Juve team (they finished 7th) are a positive, so why not? Would still prefer another CB, perhaps Beckenbauer is available...

Agree. If there's ANY truth in this at all then Tony is trying to raise the profile of the club. He needs to run it by the manager first though.

Take him as a coach though...

That's the only reason I can think of, that Beckham might come to us - if he was to be mentored by NW, possibly to replace him. Still pretty slim chance though
