I was 10 when it happened The first Atomic bomb was dropped on the 6th August, Russia declared war on the 8th and the 2nd atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki on the 9th August.. The second bomb was dropped btw because the Emperor didn't think the first bomb warranted surrender, like a City and nearly 100,000 wiped out .. It might have been the Russian declaration or the second bomb.. who knows..
Probably not even the Japanese. They referenced the atomic bombs in their surrender speech, but they gave Russia joining the war as the reason they surrendered after they surrendered.
Sorry mate, got wrapped up answering Milk. So, I was 10 when the first moon landings happened, b/w TV all looked surreal but years later as a photographer I see the pictures not sitting right in lighting terms. I also see foot prints in damp soil, seeing there is no natural atmosphere, the soil would be like the dry sand on a beach. Then I see no thrust debris of when the lander landed and given the fact they got through the moons natural radiation field in a tinfoil capsule with about 200kb (1969) of computerised data available at that time, does raise an eyebrow.. The moon for me is a mystery, there are a lot of good amateur astronomers now who view the moon very close up that have seen a lot of strange constructions on the surface and many things flying around it of gigantic proportions.. What do I think personally... We will be visited soon..
I agree Dan. I remember the media interviewing one of the astronuats decades later and asking the question, he was not best pleased, and gave a clear consise answer to the fake claims. When you look at the kit used it was primative, but that was all that was available in the early days of space exploration.
Seeing it here is the first time I've learned that the Japanese surrendered because the Russians had declared war on them. And nowt to do with 2 nuclear bombs wiping out 2 cities in just a couple of days.
The Soviet space agency were far more advanced at the time and they said that unless you were in a capsule of at least 3" of pure lead, then you wouldn't survive.. Beggars the question of what was really learnt from Roswell and all the other events that followed. America will always stay silent but Im hoping Trump's gob goes into overdrive some day soon..
Japan Thats only part the reason why they surrendered, they did not know how many nukes the yanks had and were concerned that they would nuke the entire country wiping out everyone. Also Russia did not have much of a navy or any long range bombers and could not attack Japan like the Yanks could, all they could do was attack the Japs in China.
There's one hell of a story in the 2nd world war that still affects politics to this day.. Having a good knowledge of it has to be good..
It looks tinpot now but at the time it was actually cutting edge. the bigger question is why haven’t they gone back - is it the cost or nothing left to prove
