She would be worse than that for you OLOF, she’d have kept us in the EU too (but done a proper job negotiating with them, unlike that weak Tory twat David Cameron).

Thatcher would’ve dictated to the dictators, had Merkle, Tusk, Juncker and Barnier bowing at her feet and we’d have been top dogs in Europe with no reason to leave

She’d have also told Sturgeon to **** right off

From memory, Maggie T wasn't a big fan of the EU back then. I reckon if she was around today she'd be telling the EU corrupt to like it or lump it with her middle finger firmly stood to attention.

I think you will find she was a supporter of a "fair deal" for Britain and worked within the EU to achieve this.

I don’t think so LL. she was pragmatic about it and saw an enormous trading opportunity for Britain. She had other members of the government like Nicholas Ridley who hated the EU but she always kept them in check.

She would have resisted the move to a superstate for sure.

I suspect, she’d have done a lot better job than subsequent PMs at getting Britain s bigger say, but it’s all speculation what she’d have done.

Over 580,000 British and Commonwealth soldiers signed the ultimate petition to stop a little right wing activist. Lets not forget this and the liberties that they won for us.

I think it does i.e. work within Europe for a "fair deal" for Britain. You can't influence the rules when you're on the outside.

I think you need to understand that we have no influence in the EU and that is why we wont out Idiot Cameron is reputed to have tried prior to Brexit to no avail

It's a nice shocking headline guaranteed to provoke outrage with the truth hidden at the bottom

"However, we were concerned that stickers placed on some of our cars were not official Poppy Appeal merchandise.

"Because of concerns regarding where the money for these stickers was ending up, we took the decision to not place these Poppy stickers on BTP vehicles.

"We fully recognise the sacrifices made by all armed forces colleagues, therefore we will always permit officers and staff to wear the traditional Royal British Legion poppy on their uniform."

    Confirmed here

Historical observation Ches. She was PM for over 11 years, with a majority in Parliament. If she had wanted surely she would have left, I can't imagine she would have been shy about it. The only real fact though is we will never know as she is dead.

Fair enough, if you're not getting any benefit from being in a club then leaving seems the right decision.

To be honest though I think a second vote after the benefit or loss of benefits are understood, i.e. after the separation terms are known is the only time it is possible to realistically assess the net benefit of "remain" or "brexit". Until that time a leave or remain decision is based on ignorance, personal choice and hope.

I know this will be called out as trying to give the remainers a second vote. It will but that's not the main reason I think it's a good idea. I just find it odd that you want to leave, or stay, without knowing the consequences.
