When even the most simple of searches shows US sanctions were on the back of human rights abuses in Venezuela i think mentioning Saudi Arabia is the bare minimum someone should do.

When sanctions, devised to bring down a government, are excluded from someones reasoning as to why a government might be struggling, you have to assume they wear velcro shoes.
