Nah I’m an optimist. I will wait til after the Cherries game. Although if we get stuffed on that one, i can see him sitting more nervously.
We’re apparently keeping tabs on Sunderland striker https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/foot...r-city-tottenham-southampton-keeping-13385470
To save anyone from looking, there are no Saints players in the 30 man Ballon D’Or shortlist. Should I have used blue ink?
Oh dear this all makes for some depressing reading. Maybe it’s time to state the obvious which you all know to be true. Supporting any football team requires a commitment that goes way beyond common sense. You expect so much but inevitably end up disappointed. The manager never seems to pick the team or formation that you know for a fact will win the league and the players that do turn up never seem to give the commitment you expect. But somewhere deep down inside you love them all and you’ll continue to fork out your hard earned cash to turn up in the cold and wet yelling your lungs out while everyone around you sulks with their hands in their pockets. It’s been the same for as long as I can remember - back even to the days when we had no idea who the owners or directors actually were - we only had the players (and the ref) to blame. It’s a bumpy ride with lots of heartache but every once in a while there is a moment of sheer joy that stays with you for decades and makes it all worthwhile. Just try and enjoy the ride.
https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/1...efender-wesley-hoedt-im-really-self-critical/ Not fussed about Wesley, but check out what he’s saying about defensive training. Umm...maybe that’s the issue here...
Dated a Stoke City fan back in the 70’s. The night before the ‘76 cup final she said make sure you enjoy yourself tomorrow - for clubs like ours that sort of chance could well come around only once in a lifetime. Time has shown that to be truer at Stoke than Saints. In my lifetime, I’ve seen 5 cup finals, numerous semis, half a dozen European adventures and some amazing upsets. Some of those wins against Pompey, spurs and Liverpool provide great memories and I’m quite sure we’ll get a couple more before the season is out. I do hope we’re not in the relegation mix but it’ll probably be a lot more ‘exciting’ than mid table mediocrity ;-)
“It’s quite different, to be honest. In Italy they spend days on defending instead of moments of days. “That’s just the difference in culture. In Italy we did two or three extra training sessions a week only for the defensive unit. Oh my!
It certainly fits with what we’re seeing on the pitch, especially set pieces. “We do zonal marking Wes, that means you stand in a line and watch the other team score goals. Goals, lovely goals, that’s what football is all about!”
Ummmmmm. That lack of training certainly is showing especially when defending against dead ball situations. Zonal shambles
So, is he saying that if not for all those extra sessions, he might not be as good as he is? We are so lucky
